Hi I'm Sherrie

I consider myself to be a California Girl and I love sunshine. I am a wife, a mother, a grandma and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born into a family as the third child of four children. I was raised as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I met my husband while at college and am grateful that we share the same faith. I have been married to him for 30 years now and have treasured the experience of being a stay-at-home mom and raising 4 children. I loved being a part of all aspects of our children's lives from rocking a newborn, comforting a hurt child, helping in the school classrooms and waiting up for our kids coming home from a date. We enjoy many activities together as a family including camping, Disneyland, snow skiing, trips to Hawaii, planting a garden, attending the kids extra-curricular sports events, being involved in church activities and attending church together. Being a mom is a 24 hour/7 day a week job and has involved many stressful moments, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. The rewards are worth it! One of the best rewards of having children is when they get married and provide sweet grandchildren. I currently have 4 grandsons and 1 precious granddaughter. Some of my hobbies are playing the piano, sewing and creating crafty things, serving others, cooking, being involved with my children's activities and enjoying date nights with my husband. There have been trials in my life that have given me new perspectives of which I am grateful for. I consider myself to be very blessed and am grateful for the healthy life that I have been blessed with.

Why I am a Mormon

There is nothing that brings greater happiness in my life than my membership in the church. The teachings of the church have increased my faith in Jesus Christ, provided knowledge of God's plan for me personally, and simply makes me a much better person than I would be otherwise. The commandments keep me safe. I love knowing that God loves us so much that He provided a way for us to know the way back to live with Him again. I find comfort in knowing that just as in ancient times we have a living prophet on the earth who receives revelation from God to help us in our day and who guides and directs us to find our way back to God. I am grateful for the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon which is another witness of Jesus Christ. I am able to see God's hand in my life on a daily basis. Overcoming challenges and trials has given me a greater perspective and has helped me to become a better person. This is the only true church of Jesus Christ with the fullness of His teachings and His authority on the Earth. I am grateful to have learned for myself through thoughts and feelings and as I have seriously studied the Book of Mormon and Bible, prayed, and applied the teachings of Jesus Christ in my life. As I learn more of my Savior, Jesus Christ, and strive to follow the commandments and His example, I am blessed to feel peace and experience true joy even among all the worldly distractions. I feel indebted to my Savior, Jesus Christ for His sacrifice for me. I know that I am far from perfect but that the atonement is real and as I truly repent I can be forgiven. Being a member of Christ's true church gives me hope for the future!

How I live my faith

Living what I know to be true requires faith in a loving Heavenly Father and faith in knowing He loves me and wants the best for me. Every day I have the choice of the decision to be happy or not. The days when I am most happy are when I am helping others. I currently serve in the leadership of the women's organization at church and love the feeling I get when I have been able to ease the burden of one of my friends. It is rewarding to see the difference I can make when I reach out to others. It can be as simple as a smile and a hello when I see a friend at the grocery store and at times the need requires greater effort on my part such as helping to comfort a friend after the loss of a loved one or working with a friend to help pack boxes for a move. Being involved at church helps me feel connected to a greater purpose for being here on the earth. I have also had other opportunities to serve the youth as well as the young children at church and have enjoyed the opportunity to be a mentor. One of my favorite opportunities has been to play the organ and the piano for different church meetings as well as for the choir both at church and at my kids schools. Music is a big part of my life! Music can be an effective tool to touch a person's soul. The greatest happiness I experience is when I serve my family. I believe that a family is forever in God's plan. My goal is to be with my family forever, which means not only on earth but in heaven after this life. This concept requires the greatest faith as well as patience when I experience a family member struggling. How I respond can help to determine the outcome. As a family, we are here to help each other so that we can all return to Heavenly Father together! Love is the greatest motivator! Feeling loved is a need everyone has. As a mother, I know it is my job to help each of my children feel loved in our home. When love is felt in our home it makes home a great place to be!
