Hi I'm Layne

I'm grew up in Colorado. I'm serving a mission in Taiwan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing in a family full of all boys, I fell in love with being active. From sports, to backpacking, and to just be outside are my favorite ways to spend time. As of now most of my life was spent in CO being raised in the Church by two wonderful parents, but after graduating high school I left home to start college. I spent my freshman year busy between meeting new friends and studying . Although I majored in Mechanical Engineering, I love learning all subjects, especially: history, science, and culture. After one year of college I began my service as missionary in Taipei, Taiwan, where I am currently serving.

Why I am a Mormon

It's true. I know it's a simple answer, but it's enough for me. I was fortunate enough to not only be raised in this Gospel, but by two amazing parents who lived what they taught me. However, I, like everyone I talk to in Taiwan, had to gain my own testimony. This is why I stayed Mormon, I've been blessed with a testimony of the truthfulness of the doctrine by prayer, fasting, and abiding by the doctrine's precepts. Never in my life have I doubted that God existed, and as I've the followed the doctrine set up the Mormon Church, I could feel myself getting closer to Him. Being a missionary I get to invite people everyday to do a simple thing, pray and ask Heavenly Father-becuase He'll tell you the same answer I recieved. It's true.

How I live my faith

Being a full time missionary, my life is surrounded by faith. I've been blessed with the opportunity to serve in a foreign country, speaking a very foriegn language, and I love it. Each day I get to go out the door, rain (which it does a lot in I-lan) or sun, to speak with with as many people as I can. I love meeting new people and what is really amazing to me is that I know that no matter how different we may be, that this Restored Gospel I get to share can really change their lives. Every minute of my life is directed by my faith, and these last few months I've served as a missionary have been the happiest of my life.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Layne
I get asked this question a lot: "why would you come to a non-Christian nation to proselyte?" or "why would you come to a foreign country to share this message?". The answer is simple: I personally have felt the incredible blessing of the Restored Gospel in my life and no longer felt content with sharing it with my family alone. I feel it my duty to my brothers and sisters of the world to share this message with them. Some may be searching for truth, others may not, but regardless of their situation I have a firm belief that this Gospel and the lifestyle one lives within it bring the greatest in this life and eternal life in the life to come. Being one of those missionaries out proselyting (on a bicycle) I have seen the changes this Gospel makes in the lives of those who accept it. The world we live in has tremendous problems, seemingly insurmountable, but I believe through this missionary effort-one soul at a time- those problems will fade away, with peace and love taking their place.
