Hi I'm Haden

I am a college student from Utah. I'm serving a mission so I can help people find joy in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

About Me

I am nineteen years old, an idealist, and a friend. My favorite things to do are to read, talk, sing, and learn. Really I am nobody too remarkable, but I love my life and have enough "big plans" for five lifetimes. When I get back from my mission (currently spreading the gospel with the good people of Tennessee) I will be returning to college to finish a degree in Computer Science, as well as the adventure of starting a family. I enjoy a variety of out-of-the-ordinary interests, and I believe you can have a good time doing just about anything.

Why I am a Mormon

Because I have prayed and know that this really is the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have found answers to all my questions, strength for all my trials, and direction to becoming the best man that I can be. I know that I need the direction of the Spirit in my life to find happiness, and this gospel is how I know best to feel the Spirit. I want my future family to have these same blessings. But the biggest reason I am a member of the LDS Church: because it is true. Absolutely and completely. God has shown us His works here on Earth, and He set up a plan so that we could all make it home. Throughout time He has given us His gospel, and He continues to show us the way home today.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping an eternal perspective. Because I know this life is just a small part of our eventual growth and experience, I focus on becoming like the Savior through study and service. I have enjoyed serving in all kinds of ways over the last seven years, such as teaching classes-- which I enjoy immensely and have had the privilege of doing for nearly every age group-- and helping to visit people who are unable to come to church. Outside of the actual church organization, the number one thing I do to show love for the Savior is I talk to people. I am usually hesitant to talk to new people, but if I see someone having a rough time all of that anxiety disappears and I see if there is anything I can do to help. Mostly I just listen, and I love those experiences to show my brothers and sisters that they are never alone. God sent us, his kids, here so that we could find joy in helping each other make it back home, and that is what I am here to do.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Our life here on Earth has two purposes. First, we are here to learn to live truly happy, and we find that joy by living up to God's standards. This frees us from guilt, and allows Christ to cleanse us even from sorrow and pain, so we can feel totally and completely whole and happy. Secondly, we are here to qualify ourselves, through faith, obedience and the Atonement of Christ, to be able to live again with God and our families in the kingdom of heaven. Basically, we are here to find true joy. Show more Show less
