Hi I'm Richard

I was born in North Carolina. I am an avid college sports fan and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for...well, let's just say over 25 years. I am a proud father of four children. Our oldest has recent made us proud grandparents of 2 boys. I love college sports and have been to several NCAA basketball tournaments and bowl games with my family members (mainly with my brothers, our children, and my father). I love to sing in the church or community choir. I enjoy the outdoors and travel with my wife. Researching family history is also an interest with recent visits to gravesites in northern Florida to photograph some family member tombstones from the late 1800s. I am fortunate to have about 25 years of service with my company. I work in the field of Human Resources and am currently the head of HR for a mid-sized manufacturing company.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? That is a great question. My parents and their parents were born into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. But somehow, as I was growing up in an area of the country in the 1960s and 70s that had very few other Mormons, I needed to know for myself. I wanted to know for myself. I chose to accept and dedicate myself to Jesus Christ and this church because of the doctrine and teachings and lifestyle of this gospel and the way it helps me to feel in a deep and personal way. It is logical and emotionally fulfilling. It lifts me and helps me to be a better person. It feels right. The teachings of Jesus Christ as my Savior are spritually strengthening. During my deepest concerns and trials, it is my faith in Jesus Christ and His gospel that helps me go forward with hope and peace.

How I live my faith

To me, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is built on the foundation of the Savior Jesus Christ. The church goes forward through it's members and their faith, testimonies, and service. I have been given the opportunity to serve others in many different ways, including boy scout and youth leadership, assisting others with employment needs, and organizing addiction recovery programs. We recently set up in our area a weekly addiction recovery group meeting for Spanish speaking members. Our second meeting had 7 participants. Providing support to people in times of personal crisis and need is of great personal value to me. I love the Lord. I thoroughly enjoy serving others in His name. I love being associated with this church and it's teachings of the Savior and of His goodness. I value and love being dedicated to a righteous cause. I love being able to associate with others in the spirit of love and charity and invite you to do the same.
