Hi I'm Dean

I was a smoke jumper for the forest service in Missoula, Montana. I was Student Body President at Weber State. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I earned my Doctorate from the University of Denver and worked as a marriage and family therapist for some 35 years. I spent almost three years in Germany and three years in the Philippines. My hobbies include hunting, fishing and woodworking. I am the father of five children and have always looking forward to Christmas time, because that is a time when one can create wooden toys and gifts for the family and friends What I can't create at Christmas time I purchase at my favorite pawn shop. It's fun to purchase really nice gifts at a very reasonable price.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of the Church. Later in my life I became very interested in the eternal concept of the family. My family was very loving and hard working and I always wanted to be with them forever. As I evaluated other churches everyone seemed to think and speak of relationships as time only. As I got older and my relationship with a young woman became more serious and we began to speak of marriage I became more convinced that I wanted to be married for time and eternity and in the future as children graced out home I wanted to be with them forever. What a blessing they have been to me in this life and I know in the life to come. I enjoy being a father.

How I live my faith

I have been a teacher of the youth for eleven years. I first started teaching the Bible in Denver, Colorado. The first year a new high school was not completed so the youth had to meet at 4:45 in the morning for the first six months. I really underestimated the youth because I thought no one would come at that hour. They did and I developed some special relationships. My wife and I were also involved with some 400 young men and women in the Philippines. We are currently serving in the presidency of the Georgia Atlanta Temple. This has been a wonderful experience which has allowed us the opportunity of working with couples who are getting married and performing various ordinances. Working in the Temple has been the most enjoyable church calling I've ever had. I have also served in various leadership positions for some ten hurricane and tornado relief projects in the southeast. This involved both the Red Cross and the Church.
