Hi I'm Arelys

I'm a Mormon. I was born in Puerto Rico. I moved to the USA 30+yrs.ago. My daughter and I have been active members since 2008.

About Me

I am a convert and a Realtor. I have one daughter. We love to spend time together. We cook, travel and most of all love to learn more and more about the Scriptures every day. We enjoy listening to devotionals and The Mormon Tabernacle. We have a dog and she amazinly enough is very attend to listening too. We love animals.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because I was guided by a voice. It was a very difficult time for us. In many ways. I was at the end of the rope. Yet, one day a knock was at the door. Missionaries. They had a glow and sense of peace that I just could not help but notice. I invited them to come-in, but they said no (I was alone at home). However they asked if they could pray. I said sure. They left and I was just taken by them and their glow and sense of peace. Then as I am walking towards my family room I heard a voice...He said "get ready I'm coming". Needless to say it was a voice so important to my soul that I cried and cried. I knew this voice...although I had not hear to it before--at least not on earth. I kept saying to myself "who is coming?!" I got in my knees and cried some more like never before. Two weeks passed by. I was at an apartment complex filling an application for a rental when the voice. The same voice...said "go up the hill." I looked at the Manager and with a puzzled look I said "may I take the application and return it later?" I was afraid to tell him about the voice...the poor soul would have taken me for a looney. I followed the voice's recommendation. There I found a very pleasant, smiling and glowing young woman. . She reminded me of the two young men...I was just more puzzled and curious. She said "I usually don't work on Sat., but something told me to be here today...so how can I help you?". Well, a few months later as I arrived home from picking-up my daughter from school she approached us and said with a hesitant voice " I usually don't ask this..., but would you guys like to join us to church next sunday?" I replied " Let me ask my daughter." My 8yr old daughter immediately said "yes". So did I. That Sunday was the beginning of a great journey. I know I will hear the voice again. I am grateful Heavenly Father for the Sister, the Missionaries that did their part and to OUR FATHER for HIS love.

How I live my faith

As a convert and as we learn more and more about what it takes to do what it is right...we are working towards achieving baby steps towards the basic mandates of obedience (reading the Scriptures, praying, Family Home Evening, etc...). Learning is very important for us right now. Knowledge has served as a great tool for guidance.. It has been challenging, yet not impossible. There are times when the enemy strives to make our lives very, very difficult..., but we always pray, remember the voice that brought us to the church and our experiences and testimonies. It does not matter how bad it gets...when I think of the sound of the voice I feel peace and reassurance of my faith. I have never, ever felt all these precious feelings of joy, happiness, peace, love and strenght before. All in one place!!! We also enjoy reading The Book of Mormon. I do so in Spanish. It grounds me and allows me to move forward in faith and joy. It brings us together. I also have wonderful Brothers and Sisters in faith. I pick on their brain many times. I love learning. Learning is to grow...to get mana from heaven. It makes me happy. Very happy. I enjoy the concept of strenght in families, serving and caring for others and the many blessings that comes from this.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Arelys
Yes, we do. The Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, just like the Book of Mormon are testaments of the life of JesusChrist. This is very clear to me and we regard them with respect and obedience. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Arelys
WE are grateful to God for the Prophet Joseph Smith. We respect the words written by him as the words that God reveal for us to listen and obey. Is another testament of the Life of JesusChrist, the Love and Care that God has for us. Show more Show less
