Hi I'm Jack

I'm from Chicago lands, I'm a student, I'm far from home and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a little south of Chicago from a family of five. I am the youngest with two older sisters who live downtown in little Italy. When I go into the city they are experts at pointing out the best places to go for fun or for a slice of some deep dish Chicago pizza. My parents are empty nesters with only a dog to take care of these days. I love to ski and play soccer. I am a student at BYU but I am taking a break and am living in Japan right now as a volunteer. I love it! Japan is so amazing, the people are incredible, the food is delicious and the language is hard! I will go back to school next December and I am not looking forward to leaving.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that with out this gospel I would be nothing. I was raised LDS but when my sister was diagnosed with cancer in my freshman year in highschool I began to doubt. I saw the horrible things and thought, "how could a loving God let this happen to his child?" As high school went on I believed less and less and followed the teachings and standards of the church less and less. In my senior year I got in big trouble. I felt terrible as I saw my parents, who were already dealing with the stresses of a child fighting for her life break down into tears; I had never seen my father cry before. I knew that I needed a change in my life. I decided that it was time for me to find out if it was true. i began to read the scriptures, to pray and write in a journal. As I searched for an answer I came to know that this is the true Gospel of Christ. I have experienced the power of the Atonement and I know that there is nothing in this world that is stronger or that is more vital to every person, anywhere.

How I live my faith

As a member of the Church I try to be an example of Christ through service and love. I think that everyone can be best helped by having a stronger faith in Christ. Every week I volunteer at a hospital and I also teach free English classes every week. In the Book of Mormon is says that through small and simple things are great things brought to pass (Alma 37:6). I know from experience that the best way to help others is often through a simple smile, hug or concerened question. I know that if everyone did these small things we would feel even more the love that God has for us.
