Hi I'm Ken

I'm a Mormon. I am a father of 8 and grandfather of 35.

About Me

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. When I was 19 I left for a 2 1/2 year mission in France. It was a life changing experience. Following my mission, I earned a Master's Degree in Middle Eastern Studies and learned Arabic. As part of my studies, by wife, two small children and I spent a year in Cairo, Egypt in the early 1970s. After graduating I went to work with the U.S. Government and spent the next 20 years moving around the U.S. and traveling overseas. I retired in 2005 and settled down in Northern Virginia where most of our 8 children and 35 grandchildren live. In 2015 we built a new house adjacent to our daughter's home on a 9-acre farm in Maryland where we now live. In Sept we leave for an 18-month mission to Croatia. Seven of our 8 children are married. The eight will marry shortly before we leave for Croatia.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a member of the Church, but because of my Mission to France and my subsequent service in the Church, I have gained a person witness of my Saviour, Jesus Christ and a firm conviction that his church has been restored to the Earth through modern prophets. I have seen the impact that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has in peoples lives and how their lives have been changed for the good when they join the Church. Because of the answer to my personal prayers I know that God Lives, that Jesus in my Saviour and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His church restored to the earth.

How I live my faith

The Church has been a great motivating factor in my life. I have learned what it means to be responsible for my actions and that if I really want to be free, I must moderate my life in a way that will keep me from being chained to the addictions of life. I strive each day to live the way the Savior would want me to live. I try to exemplify by my actions what it means to be a member of his Church and to be called by his name. In the process, I have found deep abiding comfort and happiness. I have learned that family are intended to last throughout the eternities but that to have this great blessing, that I must become a better person. As I strive for this goal, I have found that life is wonderful and that I can grow even from the adversities that confront me daily.
