Hi I'm Van

I grew up in Eastern Oregon and married a girl from Georgia and now live in Alabama. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a dad by day and a doctor by night! My teenage children keep me active with cycling, mountain climbing and water activities. My job keeps my interest as I await the next possible catastrophe to come in by ambulance. I have an beautiful wife who is my sweetheart and best friend.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always wondered where all the Prophets have gone. I know that the bible is full of stories of Prophets and how they taught the people, served them and performed many miraculous things. It makes so much sense that the Lord continues to call modern day prophets. From the early days of the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ until today, there are amazing men, called of God to give much needed guidance to God's children. The wise counsel from our current Prophet has been invaluable to me and my family. We learn specific ways to keep our lives in harmony with the Savior's. We also hear the dangers of modern day pitfalls and how to avoid falling into traps of unhappiness. I measure a religion on how happy it makes me feel on a daily basis. The Gospel of Jesus Christ makes me very Happy!

How I live my faith

My wife and I teach weekly Sunday School classes to young single adults in our church. We find so much joy and happiness in teaching them principles of truth that will guide them toward productive and fulfilling adult lives. We see them arrive from all areas of the Country. These young people then find someone amazing, get married and then go to someplace near or far to have a family and advance in their careers. My sons and I recently were able to help cleanup some of the areas that were devastated by the recent tornados in Alabama. What a wonderful feeling to be able to remove trees from off homes, clean up yards full of debris and put tarps over holes in their roofs. The gratitude by people in need was truly humbling and the service was some of the most satisfying and rewarding I have ever experienced.
