Hi I'm Brad

I'm a Dental Educator, Husband, Father, Grandfather. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I love to teach. I started teaching climbing and repelling to young people to help challenge them overcoming their fears. It became a passion when I started working with youth in high adventure ropes courses. I was a practicing dentist and found that I loved to spend time outdoors watching many young people start to develop a greater sense of self-esteem. This lead me to find opportunities to teach as a profession. I made the change from clinical family dentist to dental educator and love every minute. I also enjoy SCUBA diving, golfing, whitewater rafting, hiking, and being with my family. I am a husband, father, and grandfather. I grew up around not far from the beaches in Southern California and love the waves and the water. Diving with my family is a great adventure that we all enjoy. Being underwater is so peaceful. For a small moment in time all of the world above disappears and everything is quiet. Life below the surface is amazing, and colorful.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a long heritage as a member of the church, but my belief that God lives and loves me keeps me actively participating in my religion. The knowledge that God can somehow hear and answer my prayers and deepest desires brings me a tremendous amount of peace in a troubled world. Experiences with feeling the Spirit of the Lord have been influential in my spiritual development. The Church provides opportunities to feel the Spirit with weekly meetings and service opportunities. Knowing that there is a living Prophet that can guide me through life's challenges helps me to find the inner strength that is mandatory not to get caught up in the insignificant things the world has to offer. My favorite book is the Book of Mormon. I know that this sound cliche, being a Mormon, but I love the feeling that I get when I read it. Every time that I read in the book, I learn something new that I can apply in my life to make my life easier. Being a Mormon is a blessing.

How I live my faith

I love life, the ups and the downs. I am thankful for both. I live my faith by serving my family, community and members in the Church. I have worked with hundreds of Youth over the years. Most of my time has been spent with the boy scout organization. It's great to see young boys develop into young men of God. I try to utilize the outdoors and the adventures that it can bring to challenge and teach the young men and young women. One of the greatest things to watch is a young man or young woman on the edge of a cliff ready to repel down it for their first time. There are a lot of scared youth who with a little coaching take that first step. Using the analogy of trusting in the equipment and the trained leaders helps them realize by what means they can manage throughout their life. I also love to be involved with providing dental services to the underprivileged. The gratitude that they express for having a problem resolved that they could not do themselves helps to keep me focused on how God shows his mercy to me in helping me overcome my problems that alone I could not do.
