Hi I'm Adam

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Just as I am one of the few fortunate ones who has found the church I am also one of the few who has been blessed with a love for country music. I am staying busy working two jobs but I still keep a couple hobbies. I train homing pigeons, love being outside and camping, I never was one to fish but I still tag along to be with grandpa. I like rock climbing and mountain biking and am proving to be quite the mechanic. Although if nothing is visibly broken I'm not to good at the diagnostic part of it. It is nice to relax every once and a while. When those times come I like to read but sometimes grabbing a shovel and heading for the back yard can be just as calming.

Why I am a Mormon

I like to have and follow a plan. Mom might dissagree because I often have trouble following the rules but it's true. For me knowing why is something I am always looking for. I talk to friends about life and why things are the way they are and I realize how many people don't know the simple answers I've cherished all my life. I often wonder why a loving God allows bad things to happen to good people or why things seem harder the more you try to do the right thing. Or sometimes what the purpose of life really is-why we are here. To me that is the beauty of the gospel of Christ. When we listen to His words we learn the answers to His mysteries. I'm not a member of the Chuch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because it is easy or because I'm afraid of going to hell, or even because it is all I know. I'm a member of His kingdom because I have experienced the joy that it brings to my life when I live it. I do my best to do a little better everyday so that one day I can live with my Father again. I know that this is the plan, the way He has made possible. For me because this is so real I know what I need to do. Head the words of the Savior when He says "come follow me".

How I live my faith

I try not to lose focus in life, and rememer that I chose to come here. There is something more to all of this than just this earth-just this life. I believe that this life is only part of the journey, just another step in the grand scheme of things. I want to continue to help bring souls unto Christ. Of course I can't share the gospel with people if I haven't experienced it myself. The first soul I have to be willing to bring to Christ is my own. That is really what His gospel is all about. Being willing to sacrifice what I want, change what I want until my will aligns with His. I think everyone deserves the chance to learn about God's plan and choose whether they want to live it or not. I love this gospel and live it by continually seeking the words of Christ. By making the effort to change every day to be more like Him, and sharing what I know with others so they too can have the chance to experience this great gospel.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

I believe we are judged according to our hearts. I also believe that baptism is necessary for salvation. God is merciful and wont turn us away after we die because we didn't have the chance to hear the gospel or were informed wrong. In both cases we are not in control of that situation and are not acountable to live up to the standards we did not know or understand. Because of this He gives us a way to save those who haven't been baptised. He has people on Earth who have a body do the ordinance/work in their behalf. This way every one has taken part in this much needed ordinance and now has the choice of what to do about it before they are judged. Just like the Atonement that the Savior made in behalf of all of us. We couldn't save ourselves so He made the sacrifice so that, if we wanted it, we at least had a chance at salvation. Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Christ has commanded us to love one another. To help us to be one and obey this command He has given us the law of tithing. Mosiah 18:27, a sripture from the Book of Mormon says "and again Alma commanded that the people of the church should impart of their substance, every one according to that which he had; if he have more abundantly he should impart more abundantly; and of him that had but little, but little should be required; and to him that had not should be given". Funds collected through tithing are used to help the needy. Giving tithing helps us build our faith, take care of the Lord's children and unite us as a people. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

To get a tesimony of something you have to try it out. I have prayed before simply to see if anyone was there. I believe God answers our prayers when we are sincere. If deep down in your heart you really want to know if there is a God "ask and ye shall recieve". I know He is there and I know He answers. As far as proof goes look around. The most complex machines not only need great presision in how the different parts come together but in which materials are used for particular parts. There hase to be a designer who shapes and assemles those parts to ensure the invention can do as it is intended. I think of how well different plants and animals thrive off of each other and how everything contributes to the cycle. The body I have, how complex it is. Counciouness has always fasinated me. I can sit and have different thoughts go through my mind and choose which of them I want to do and then do it. The ability to think for myself, independant of all else is truly a miracle. I think of our solar system with the many planets being held in their orbits and never loosing momentum. I think of the earth and the atmosphere we have that protects us. I think of little children who haven't been flooded with other people's beliefs yet and their tendancy to want to beleive there is a Creator. I think of my own tendancies. He did not leave us comfortless. We can pray to Him and we can rely on the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less
