Hi I'm Yeeyoung

I am an Accounting student minoring in Biochemistry hoping to enter medical school. I love everything in life and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a Junior in college. I served my mission and returned just recently this year(2011) from the Sydney, Australia Mission. After taking some time off to do some soul searching I found out that I want to study medicine and become a physician someday. I love playing sports especially swimming and water polo. My nationality is Korean but I was born and raised in America. I have a wonderful family in California which is where I mostly grew up. Now I am just studying and plan to work, volunteer, and graduate ASAP!

Why I am a Mormon

Ever since I was young the church was a big part of my life. My parents are both converts of the church and never had doubts about the church. They were always great examples to me in having true faith and passion for the gospel. When I was about 13 years old I started to look into the gospel more seriously. I had a lot of doubts because none of my close friends in school were members of the church and I was constantly being invited to attend other church services and retreats. One day I was faced with a personal challenge that brought a lot of fear and sadness in my life. For the first time I decided to turn to the scriptures for answers. I wasn't very knowledgeable about the scriptures and wasn't the best student during Sunday School either, but somehow I stumbled upon a scripture that brought one of the most comforting feelings I have ever felt in my life. In Isaiah 41:10 it says "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." After reading this verse I said a prayer that confirmed that God is our Father in Heaven and He loved us. I instantly knew the gospel was special. That was the starting point in my faith and I started to progress forward as I continuously studied the scriptures and frequently bore my testimony whenever I got the chance.

How I live my faith

I attend church every week on Sundays to partake of the Sacrament in remembrance of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. In doing so I renew a covenant or a promise that I made with Heavenly Father that I will do my best to keep the commandments, take upon myself the name of Christ, and always remember Him. I also attend Sunday School and Elder's Quorem which is another Sunday School just for the men of the church. I do my best to get opportunities to teach classes and also help the missionaries bring more people into this wonderful gospel. I try to study the scriptures daily and pray as much as I can. I also do my best to attend the temple at least once a month to learn more about our eternal potential.
