Hi I'm Joseph

I am a missionary for the LDS Church, serving in the Las Vegas Mission. I grew up in Camas Washington, and I love my mission.

About Me

I have graduated from Camas High School and I have been called to serve for 2 years in the Nevada Las Vegas Spanish speaking mission. I am one of ten children, the third of my siblings to serve a full time mission. I like cars, good food, and talking to people about pretty much anything. I am an Eagle Scout, and love camping and horse-back riding. I accepted that the church was true before, but never knew for myself until I was preparing to serve my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church, and have found no reason to leave it.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday (when possible), I attend meetings that are considered necessary for me to attend, and I answer any questions that people ask me about the church to the best of my abilities. And I am a missionary.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Yes, the word of God has been present since the dawn of time. However, a Restoration was needed to bring the authority to act in His name back to mankind. The church that Christ had established consisted of Apostles and Prophets that were ordained with the power and authority to act in His name. When the Twelve Apostles, Peter, James, and so forth, were all killed Christ's church remained, but no one on Earth had His power and authority. Through Joseph Smith, Christ brought it back. How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It contains the word of God and an abridgment of the ancient inhabitants of the American continent. Like the Bible, the Book of Mormon was written by several prophets. Joseph Smith was visited by an angel, who was also the final author in the Book of Mormon, and told Joseph Smith where he had hidden the ¨Golden Plates,¨ or the original written text of the Book of Mormon. With the authority of God, Joseph Smith translated the plates and printed the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

No one is required to serve a mission. All missionaries are volunteers. It is one way that we show our love and dedication to the Savior and our desire that all may experience the joy and happiness that the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings into our lives. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Families are extremely important to the LDS church because of the knowledge of the Plan of Salvation. According to the Plan of Salvation, we existed as spirits before being born into the world. In this Premortal Existence, we organized ourselves into family units that we wanted to be with in life, and who we wanted to be with after death and into eternity. Show more Show less
