Hi I'm Rick Mackintosh

I was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. As a young man I served a mission in South Africa. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of two and grandfather of two. My wife and I were married in the Washington DC Temple of the Church 35 years ago. I am nearing retirement in a few years after working as a career manufacturer's sales representative for the past three decades. I enjoy working out in the weight room and jogging to maintain my health and vitality. I also am an avid reader of military history and biographies of great men and women. My hobbies include watching good worthwhile movies, playing the drums, golfing in the summer with my son and son in law and visiting airplane museums with my eldest son. Of course, my wife and I love to be with our children and grandchildren and enjoy watching them grow and mature.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon or more correctly a Latter Day Saint because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. I have had a witness from the Holy Ghost that this is the Lord's true church on the earth. My 44 years of trying to live the gospel of Jesus Christ has given me experience after experience that confirms the truth of the Savior's words in John 7: 16-17: "Jesus answered them and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." I have had countless confirmations of the truth of those words over the years as I have tried to keep the Savior's commandments and serve Him in His church. I am a member of the Mormon church because, for me, it has the answers to the most important questions we all ask ourselves throughout our lives, Who am I? Where did I come from? Where am I going after this life is over? The Savior is the Architect of the great Plan of Happiness and all who desire to know of this truth can learn it directly from Heavenly Father by the Holy Ghost through prayer, without relying on any other person or thing for that witness. I find myself sitting in a sacrament meeting on a Sunday saying to myself, "There is no other place I would rather be than here."

How I live my faith

I have been a member of the church for 44 years, having joined with my parents and siblings when I was 16 years old. I served a full time mission to Johannesburg South Africa from 1976-78. My callings since that time have been YM President numerous times, Sunday School youth teacher, Gospel Doctrine class teacher, counselor in an Elders Quorum Presidency, Elders Quorum President, Bishop twice, Counselor in a Branch Presidency, a member of the Stake High Council twice, Stake Mission President, High Priests Group Leader, Ward Executive Secretary and Stake Exexutive Secretary, which is my current position and which I enjoy very much. I have been a hometeacher for 44 years and enjoy having the opportunity to serve in the church.
