Hi I'm Elaine

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 7 wonderful children, ranging in ages from 12-28. I also have 4 beautiful grandchildren at the present time. I love being a mom/grandma! I also love music! I love playing, singing, and listening to a wide variety of music. I also enjoy writing songs, poems, and short children stories. I am also involved in Cub Scouts, serving in director positions for our district Cub Scout Camp. My father was involved in scouting where I saw what a great program it is. I enjoy following in his footsteps.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the church all of my life. It wasn't until the past 10 years or so that I really gained my conviction. I have always accepted the teachings of the church, but after some struggles, I finally gained my OWN testimony. I realized that as you are going through life and you feel like something is missing, you are yearning to fill an empty void, the only way to do so is by turning to the Savior. Only He can fill that void! I realized that true happiness comes only when living the teachings of the gospel.

How I live my faith

Regular prayer and scripture study is an essential part of my life. It's what gives me strength to carry on and hope for the future (eternity). I try to treat others the way I like to be treated, this keeps me from doing a lot of mischievous things I am otherwise tempted to do. If I am having a hard time liking someone, I try see them as the Savior would. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, we will find what we are looking for. If we focus on the good and see the potential of others and of ourselves, instead of the faults, we are much happier and more able to bless the lives of others. Service is an important aspect of my faith. When we are serving, we are being the Hands of heaven on earth. I know the Lord is counting on us to reach out and help His children who are in need, whether by service, giving comfort and encouragement, a listening ear, being a true friend. We all have needs. If I expect my needs to be met, I have to do what I can to help meet the needs of others. When I start getting depressed, I realize I am thinking only of myself. Living the teachings of Jesus Christ, following His example, is the only way to truly be happy in this life and the life to come. I hope I live my faith so that others can see who's footsteps I am trying to follow.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Woman can not hold the Priesthood, but we have our own role of Motherhood, which is equally important. Each bears a responsibility for love and service. As women, the most important work we do is within the walls of our own home. We are responsible for raising of the next generation. How we raise them, determines their future as individuals and society as a whole. We also reach out to help in the community, just as the those who hold the Priesthood, if we see a need - we should do our best to meet it. Show more Show less
