Hi I'm Emily

I'm a mother, a wife, a hairstylist and musician. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am so blessed to be a mother of two, a boy and girl, I love being a wife and stay at home Mom. I have been doing hair for 10 years and still do it whenever I get a chance. I've been writing songs, playing guitar and singing for 18 years and still enjoy it when I am able to. Staying healthy and active is important to myself and my family as well. I was blessed with the opportunity to spend some time as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints in Johannesburg South Africa some years ago, and cherrish memories made then and now through experiences I have had.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 8 years old, My parents told me it was my choice to be baptized and taught me the importance of following the Savior and the need for his guidance throughout my life. I knew at that time, even as young as I was, that that was the path I wanted to follow. Years later I was sad and lost. One day as I was traveling I found myself at Temple square in Salt Lake City UT and decided to walk around. There was a sweet Asian Sister Missionary there who stopped me and asked me some questions and then had me read a scripture, it was 2 Ne. 31:20 in the Book of Mormon. That became my favorite scripture because it guided me in a time of need. From that day on I felt more confident and secure in my relationship with my Savior and chose to work hard continually. Another major event in my life that helped shape my testimony and who I am was when I turned 21 and was trying to figure out what I was to do in my life. At that age women in the church can choose to serve a mission, for me however I really didn't wan to do that. I needed something though, I was so lost, confused and unfulfilled. I would strive daily in my efforts to do the right things, but still felt empty. One day I decided to just get away, be by myself and figure things out. I drove for hours, I then stopped at a Temple and sat in the parking lot crying and pleading to understand the Lord's will for me. As I sat in the passenger side of my car I glanced in the side mirror at myself and saw a beautiful image of a confident happy women (not who I was at that time) I saw myself as a missionary. I then said to the Lord that I would know my answer was to serve a mission if someone else saw in me what I just saw. I went home and walked in the door and my older sister asked where I'd been and said I looked happy and peaceful, like I just recieved an answer to a prayer. I ended up serving a mission that made me who I am today. I am a better person because of this gospel. I love my Savior and sharing his gospel.

How I live my faith

Life is busy with a little family to take care of and home to keep nice, but I feel as though serving my family, neighbors and friends bring me closer to my Savior and strengthens my faith. I don't have a calling yet, but I look forward to serving where the Lord would have me serve. I do however watch a friend or neighbor's children when they need help, I love to get out with my children and show them by example how to serve, whether it's yard work or taking cookies or cards to others or just being friendly and smiling. I enjoy singing and playing guitar for others as well, music is a great way to express love and bring that warm fuzzy feeling. In the past I have enjoyed being a teacher to 12 year old young women, 14 and 15 year old young men and women in Sunday School, being a helper to missionaries in the area, helping organize activities to strengthen the women in the church and learn skills to help us in our families, I have also worked in the nursery with the little ones ranging from 18 mos. to 3 years old and I love to visit the other sisters in our area and neighborhood and find out more ways to serve them and their families.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Emily
In a marriage it helps if both partners agree on certain morals, but most importantly to me having a foundation built on Jesus Christ. The more we read and learn about him the easier it is to want to be like him. We can follow him in how we treat our spouse and children or in how we treat friends and strangers. If we have faith, no matter how difficult the trial we go through may be, we will know that it will be ok one way or another. We trust that God will help us if we call upon him and as we do what he asks us to do and keep his commandments. We can all be happy and have long lasting and loving relationships by including God and Jesus Christ in our lives. He Loves us and wants us all to be happy and feel loved, I know I feel his love when I put my trust in him and when I faithfully follow his example and love others as he loves me Show more Show less
