Hi I'm Katie

I grew up in Alaska. I love to laugh :) I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love life! I grew up in Alaska and I'm going to college in Utah. I have a gigantic, awesome family. Sometimes it gets pretty crazy but it keeps life interesting :) I love having strong relationships with people. I think that is what brings me the most joy in my life. Love is the most important thing to me. I love Latin America and I speak Spanish and am currently learning Portuguese.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but I didn't always understand how it was different from other churches. When I was a teenager, I began to really understand what the claim of this church is--that the exact same church that Christ made when he was on the earth was restored through a prophet of God named Joseph Smith. I was at a point in my life that I really wanted to know if this was true. All my life I had been taught that I could find truth by praying and asking God, so I decided I would ask Him if the things my parents had taught me were true. When I did, I had SUCH a good feeling! It was peaceful but so powerful and clear. And warm. It was like there was a sun of love and joy in my chest. I knew that God was answering me that yes, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints really is His church restored in our modern days. My knowledge that this is true has grown sooo much since that experience! I know that it is through Heavenly Father's gospel and the promises I've made with Him that I am able to be truly happy. Yeah, my life isn't perfect, I still have bad days just like everyone, but I know who I am and I know that there is ALWAYS hope for the future.

How I live my faith

I do my best to love people the way that Christ loves them. I try to always do the things that he would do if he were here. Right now I'm working to get an MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages so I can help people learn English. We can learn a lot from people who have different experiences than us, and it helps if we can communicate with each other :)
