Hi I'm Darci

I was born and raised in California. I now live in South Dakota. I'm a lifeguard/swim teacher at the YMCA. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have two sons and two step-daughters. Between the four children I have six grandchildren. I live an active lifestyle, I love to hike in the Black Hills of South Dakota. I love to swim, teach swim lessons and water aerobics. One of my passions is reading. I read, historical fiction, Si-Fi, fantasy, mysteries. I love a story that makes me think. In my younger days I played volleyball, winter and summer. Now I have to stick to sports that are less strenuous on my knee's and elbows. I love interior decorating, painting is FUN! I get a thrill out of creating beauty from almost nothing. I love to hang out with my girlfriends who make me feel beautiful!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family. As I grew up I was taught the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When I was a teenager I questioned my faith, mostly because I wanted to run with a crowd of kids that didn't have good standards. I was wayward for about a year and then returned to my faith with a greater understanding of what my parents believed in. I was Married at age nineteen. Over the course of nine years we had two wonderful children. My husband and I split up when my youngest son was just four years old. This again shook my faith and I followed some other paths. I was very unhappy during this time. A dear friend (not a Mormon) defined my situation by telling me I had lost my faith. I began to return to my church. I began to study the teachings again and I regained my testimony of the Book of Mormon. I gained a greater relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ. I prayed like I had never prayed before during that time. I came to understand that Jesus sacrificed his life for ME! I remember that fact everyday and praise him for his love. I know he loves me and all the inhabitants of this earth. It wasn't until I knew that for myself that I was able to become a happy person. I now have a wonderful husband and live a very happy life by his side.

How I live my faith

I work at the YMCA which I find very rewarding. I have an opportunity to influence the lives of many children through my work there. I have also learned much from them. I like to volunteer in my community. My husband and I volunteered our time one Saturday a month at a coop until it was disbanded.
