Hi I'm George Adams

I never received an answer to vocal prayer until the LDS Missionaries came into my life. How grateful I am for that experience.

About Me

I am a father of four kids, 1 girl and 3 boys. My two oldest are married and each have one child of their own. My two oldest boys are Eagle Scouts and each served Spanish speaking missions of their own in Arizona and South Carolina. I have worked in the healthcare financial field for 20 years either as a Controller or Chief Financial Officer in various places through out the United States and the church has always been a stabilizing influence to our family providing a spiritual and social outlet everywhere we go. I will never forget receiving my first answer to a vocal prayer to the Lord about joining the church and gaining a testimony of the Book of Mormon. While serving a mission, I will never forget how the scriptures opened up new paths of understanding and how the Bible was no longer a book that made little or no sense. Being a newly converted member myself while serving a mission, it was such a joy to tell people how they too can get an answer to their prayers. In recent years, I have begun tracing my geneological roots and becoming familiar with many living relatives as well I never knew existed. My family and I regulary perform ordinance work in their behalf to fulfill the prophecy of the hearts of the children turning to their fathers. What a thrill it has been.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because first and foremost the Lord told me in prayer this was the path I should follow after letting him know I would follow and not turn back if Heavenly Father would provide me an anwer to my prayers about being baptized. It would not be an easy path as many members of my family were of another faith and still others had no faith in God at all. I especially faced concerns from others about my ability to complete my education after serving my mission. All of those concerns were put to rest as I graduated from college and pursued the career I wished to follow. When I was sealed to my wife for time and all eternity, it provided an eternally binding incentive to be reunited with my wife and children forever and not just 'till death.

How I live my faith

I have served in the church in various callings ranging from Bishop to teaching the young boys and my current position as Missionary Leader for the local congregation in Ottumwa, Iowa. I get involved in most all the local service projects such as volunteering at the local LDS thrift store, helping to complete Eage projects and yard and building mainenance at the local church. I have also been involved in local Service clubs when possible such as Rotary, Lions Club, and the HIgh School Band Booster to service the community, give moral support to my kids and promote my local employer. I also have invited my coworkers to local church Events during the holiday season such as the Christmas Choral events so that they too could learn more about the church.
