Hi I'm Amanda

I'm a runner, a wife, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been a college student, and a missionary, currently I'm a wife to a wonderful husband and a soon-to-be mother. In my spare time I do a lot of running, not competitively though. I've always liked to be outside, and you can get a lot of places running! It's always been fun for me to find new trails. When I was younger my grandmother taught me how to garden, and just sort of stuck! So in my spare time I like to plant things, especially flower gardens!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was growing up I didn't really go to church. Religion was something that I thought was important, but for other people. I felt guilty about not going to church in highschool because I had a good group of friends that went to their respective churches. So I went to church for a while but then stopped going again when I moved away from home to go to college. After a while I noticed that I had different friends that were making some pretty terrible decisions that would affect the rest of their lives. I didn't like where I could see that my life was heading so I decided that I needed to change something. I started studying even more in school, and filled my schedule with a lot of things so that I could distract myself from feeling like something was just missing. I felt that if I could ignor it long enough it would go away. It worked for a while. One weekend I came home from school so that I could spend time with my family. I went to church with my mom for the first time in a really long time. When I went to church I finally felt like I had found what was missing. I found what I was looking for, even though I didn't fully realize that I was looking for it. I saw that coming to church helped me to focus my life on Jesus Christ. As I made the Savior a part of my everyday life, I felt more complete. I felt like my life had a purpose, and that it wasn't to just go through the motions of life. I found that the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ truly helped me to be happy. To know that God really does care about what we do with our lives.

How I live my faith

When I found that feeling of completeness I felt like I needed to share it with others, which is why I decided to serve a full-time, volunteer, year and a half, mission for the church. So that I could help others to find the peace that I found through the Gospel. I live my faith by keeping the commandments that God has given us, and helping others to find the happiness that I've found through making the Savior and His teachings, the Gospel, a priority in my life.
