Hi I'm Jake

"I love the Rocky Mountains. I'm a mormon.

About Me

Hello I am Jake Fredrickson. I am currently serving a mission in the North Carolina Charlotte mission. As of right now I am living in Charlotte. I have a great family back home in Utah. We love the out-doors, love to shoot guns, go hunting, camping back-packing and everything in the wilderness. I was a Wrestler in High School and College before my mission. My senior year of high school I won the State Championship at 119lbs. I love playing all sports but wrestling is where I excelled the most. I love History my favorite subject in school and I love to be active. I don't do very well sitting down for long periods of time.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church, to really good parents who taught me right. I devealoped a testimoney very early in life. Read the Book of Mormon for the first time at the age of nine. I have always had a love for the scriptures and always had a testimony of the Book of Mormon. At age eighteen though, at a rough period in my life I had several spiritual experinces that deepend my testimony of the Atonement and the truth of the Restored Gospel. These expereinces motivated me to pre-pare intensly for my mission through regular temple attendace and scripture study. That year before my mission proved to benifit me here and now during my service. My time serving as a missionary has been the best expereince of my life. My knowledge and understanding of the mysterious of God have grown imensly during this time in my life.

How I live my faith

In the Church I have been able to serve in several capacties. Growing up in the Church I did alot of things with the youth in the church. I served as a teacher over young children before serving a full time mission. I have always loved the scriptures and studied them regularly. The most benificial service in the church that I ahve done however is my service as a full-time missionary.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Jake
We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. Scripture is inspiration and light given to man-kind through the Holy Ghost to God's Prophets. The Bible is a record of direction given through Prophets anciently to mankind and can serve as spiritual direction for us in our day. However the Bible as we know it today was not compiled until centuries after the death of Christ and his apostles. We believe in the original truths that the writngs of the Bible are to be understood in the manner inwhich they were intended by the Prophets and apostles when they wrote them. Not what was decided by councils of uninspired men centuries later that debated and made decsions based more on the politics and philosphies of man rather than inspiration from God. Therefore we believe the Bible to be translated as far as it is done correctly with the lense of the Holy Ghost and direction from modern Prohets who have authority to give direction from God.
