Hi I'm Paula

I grew up in Los Angeles. I love to play tennis and hike. I have been a banker for 25 years. I have 4 children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in California most of my life. I love all of the things the Golden State has to offer, the beautiful sunshine, the beaches, the mountains and the cities. I love doing things outside, some of my favorite are tennis, beach volleyball and hiking. I also like to bike, swim and scuba dive. I went to college in California at Stanford University and then also got a Master's Degree in Business here at UCLA. I have been working as a banker for over 25 years, most of that time part-time because I have wanted time to raise my 4 children but I'm now back working full-time to help put my children through college. They are wonderful active people that are so fun and I just love to spend time with them. They love beach volleyball and as a family we spend time at the beach. We also like to go to Lake Powell every summer and wakeboard. We play lots of games together and our favorite game may be Scrabble. I always have a book I am reading and I read many books a year. I stay very busy between children, husband, work, fun time and my church activities, but I love being busy with great things to do.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon my whole life. I was raised in the church, but I have developed my own personal conviction of its truthfulness. The gospel's teachings have always guided my life and brought me great happiness. Growing up and living in California, I have always been surrounded by great friends who are not Mormons and been surrounded by many worldly things and influences. But I have never envied people their worldly lifestyles, I know that I have found true joy and happiness by living the teachings of my Savior. As a family we read the scriptures and pray together everyday and it brings us closer. My Heavenly Father has answered so many of my prayers, not always in expected ways, but I can see His hand in my life so clearly. I have no doubt that he hears and answers my prayers. I have tried very hard to raise my children to know their Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, our Savior, and they are wonderful examples of the joy and happiness that living the gospel can bring. I love to watch the great and exciting things they are doing and how they are incorporating the gospel of Jesus Christ into everything they do. I am so grateful to be a part of this gospel on earth! It is truly the way to peace and happiness!

How I live my faith

I always actively participate in our congregation and love the opportunity to serve others that way. This last summer I organized a girl's camp for our 35 young women ages 12 to 18. We went up to Malibu and camped on the beach, cooked outdoors, learned to surf, went hiking and even stopped on the way to visit the Los Angeles Temple. I play the organ at church about once a month and regularly accompany people on the piano. I am the choir director now which is really fun because I have spent my life behind the piano, but I'm now learning to do more. I also love to teach lessons and welcome any opportunity to study the scriptures and then teach them to others. My church service is one of the highlights of my life!

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Paula
I am a strong and confident Mormon woman. I am actively involved in helping lead our congregation as I have had leadership positions with the women, the young women and the children. I participate in counsels for our congregation and have an active voice in the congregation's direction. I have a strong career in banking, but the place I have put in the most time in my life is in raising my four children. They are amazing people and I don't regret spending nearly 20 years working part-time in my career in order to help them learn and grow. My husband and I are equal partners in all we do in our family. I love being a part of this church! Show more Show less
