Hi I'm Dallin Slaugh

I am an engineer, a father, a follower of Christ, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

For 30 years I've worked as an engineer for the aerospace giant Boeing near Seattle Washington. I've been privileged to have a front row seat watching some of the most amazing and beautiful of our human creations take shape and rise to the skies connecting the human family in ways we only dreamed of a few decades ago. It has been a far greater thrill to be on the front lines in the cause of bringing souls unto Christ. I have not seen Him with my eyes, but He will not be any more real to me when the day comes that I do. As I have devoted time serving the needs of those around me I have come to know of the unending love that God has for each of us.

Why I am a Mormon

Now that I’m over 50 the lifetime behind me is surely longer than the lifetime in front of me and experience forms a larger dimension of my faith in Christ. The glories of the world fade with each passing year but, the beauties of the gospel burn ever brighter and brighter. My body doesn’t hold up like it used to, but the promise of the resurrection is more real. Our cannon of scripture has not changed, but each reading is a new and exciting experience. In youth my eyes could see the fine print in dim light, but reading was often drudgery. Now I can’t make out the words without a light, but I can see treasured gems in almost every verse. My daily reading brings me ever more satisfaction. When I was very young my parents took me to church and later habit took me. Now my longing for spiritual things draws me to church each week to sit among my truest friends and bask in warmth that has no equal. When I was young I wondered if I would have the desire to find the church had I not been born into it. Now I believe I would crawl to the ends of the earth to find the fountains of truth and knowledge that we enjoy. Each year the temple offers a greater refuge from the world, and each year my longing for its promised blessings grows stronger and stronger. To live forever with my family in God’s presence, that is my greatest desire.

How I live my faith

I strive to align my life with the teachings of Jesus Christ to the fullest extent. If you want to use a computer the first thing you have to learn is to do things the computer’s way. If you insist on doing things your own way the computer is nothing but frustration. If, however, you patiently learn to conform your will to the computer, its power and capability come alive for you and you become free to create in a million ways. Living the gospel is no different. When we learn to bend our will to God we become free to grow and progress to our fullest extent.
