Hi I'm Kalan

I'm an East Coaster. I'm a believer. I'm adventurous and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Being the only girl, living on the east coast, moving different places during my childhood, playing sports, being active and healthy, eating granola, getting an education, working during school, having & keeping scholarships, making and working at relationships with people, learning new things, going on adventures, taking care of children, being in the sun, reading, laughing, sarcasm & whit, family, faith & prayer, accepting Jesus Christ as my Savior, The Book of Mormon, these are the things that make me who I am.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up I would always have friends and peers ask me why I was a Mormon and if I would really choose that myself. I was born and raised a Mormon and both sides of my family go back about 7 generation members of the church. Its in my blood really. I think my first response answer at that age was "of course", I didn't know anything different. But over the years, I have come to realize that all the little parts of who I am, what I do and what I want, stem from my religion and my faith. I am a Mormon because it makes up every little part of who I am, what I strive for, and who I want to become. It brings the most peace and joy to my life even when its not through religious things. Just waking up every morning, being able to breathe, live, and learn, I am thankful for the life that I have been given to come to know my Heavenly Father and Savior more and more so when I meet them again I will know them even more than I ever have because I have become like them.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through the little actions everyday, through telling people openly of my beliefs and joys that I find through this gospel, through the way I dress and the way that I speak. I live my faith through my thoughts. I live my faith through daily prayer. I live my faith through gratitude and service whenever possible. I live my faith through trying to be a good example to those around me and being kind and helpful to them in any way that they need. I live my faith through deciding to serve a full time mission in Brazil and having the desire to help more people everywhere find the joy and peace that I am blessed to have in my life everyday.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being Mormon is a very normal, every day kind of thing to me. I think its just waking up in the morning having the desire to want to do better and always progress. The best way to do this is through our personal relationship with Jesus Christ and accepting him as our savior. When we understand what really matters and what really brings true, lasting happiness in our lives we can focus our lives everyday on those things and the bigger picture. Show more Show less
