Hi I'm Barry K Spurlock

I'm a Mormon. I live in Kentucky and am third generation Mormon. I have 8 wonderful children. I know families are forever!

About Me

I was raised in an LDS home with mother who was a member and a father who became a Mormon when I was 12 years old. I had a few shaky years in my youth but always remained active in my church attendance. I had to gain my own testimony when I was a teenager and I was blessed to have the experiences in my youth which allowed this to happen. I then served a mission in the great state of Washington, in the Seattle Mission. This experience solidified my faith in my savior and in my knowledge of the love of a kind and forgiving savior. After returning home I meet a wonderful wife Janie McKinney and we were sealed in the Washington DC Temple. We have been married for 30 years and we have 6 children, and 2 wonderful sons-in-law. I have had 4 children serve a mission and all my children are active in and faithful to the covenants they have made in their lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I have had many experiences with a loving God and a savior who have taught me personally of their ways and those things they would have me do. The things I learn from the scriptures teach me the thing I know to be true. The Book of Mormon is a another testimony of my savior and helps me know he is real and loves me and all of his children. I have been taught many thing by the spirit which I can not deny which help me remain true and faithful to the covenants I have made to my Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

I love the temple and attend often. I love the great work of of the Lord and stand for freedom and liberty in my community by participating in local community events. I am a High Priest in my local ward and serve as a member of the Stake presidency. I have held many other callings in the church and love the opportunity to serve my fellow men by just helping when ever I can. I get my greatest joy in life when I am serving others. We are in the service of our God when we are in the service of our fellow man.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Barry K Spurlock
It is wonderful to know with all the differing thought and temptations today that there is a prophet like unto Moses we can turn to for answers and the correct path to take just as the people of Moses did. I have often thought why would God give the people of Israel a prophet to guide them in the wilderness of affliction and leave me to wonder in this vast wilderness of a world with out the same blessing.
