Hi I'm Verily

I'm a wife, I'm a sister, I'm an amateur comedian, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 28 years old. I have recently graduated with my law degree, now I am studying for the Colorado bar exam. I hope to be able to work in criminal law, family law or immigration. My undergraduate degree is in family science and human development. I love being in a courtroom before a judge! There is such a natural high that comes from actually standing in a courtroom and presenting evidence. I love being with my family especially my husband, Jared. I have been married for almost two years. Before I got married I lived in England for a year and a half. I love British comedy shows, they have such a unique sense of humor :) I write comedy bits for myself, mostly observations about my life and my family. I don't get to preform my comedy routine as much as I would like because of school but it is something challenging that I definitely want to pursue more after I graduate. I love dance, movies and all different types of music, especially country (my husband thinks that is my biggest flaw.... Lol)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have come to know through prayer that the Book of Mormon is true. I have read the Book of Mormon many times and each time I get more out of it, I am always finding new insights when I read. For example, when I was 22 my mom was given 2 weeks to live. Right before I received that phone call about my mom I read this in the Book of Mormon; 2Nephi 9:10 "O how great the goodness of our God, who prepareth a way for our escape from the grasp of this awful monster; yea, that monster, death and hell, which I call the death of the body, and also the death of the spirit." At that moment I knew that whatever happened to my mom I would be alright, that God had a plan for her and for me and that I would see her again because of Jesus Christ. I have experienced so many times when I know that God was working in my life. He has healed me when I have been sick or injured, comforted me, taught me, protected me and given me strength to get through hard times. I know the Lord loves us, ALL OF US! I know that God does not want us to walk through this life in darkness. I know that peace and joy can only come from Jesus Christ. I know that Christ established a church while he was on this earth and at the head of that church he put 12 apostles and gave them authority to act in his name. Unfortunately, over time this apostles were killed and the doctrines were changed and parts of the plan were lost form our understanding. That is how we can have so my Christian church's who believe in the same Jesus Christ but they all worship him differently. I know that Christ restored the fullness of his gospel to the earth by calling a prophet in our day. Today we have a prophet and 12 apostles who have the same authority as the ancient apostles to direct the whole church. I know that I can always pray for guidance and God will hear my prayers. I know Jesus Christ suffered and died for me and that he is my savior. I know that God wants us to be happy.

How I live my faith

I have had many different opportunities to serve others in my community and in my church. While in England I working as a full-time volunteer missionary. I paid my own way and went out and taught people about what I believe. Right now I teach Sunday school to teenagers in my congregation. I love working with teenagers! I used to work at a boarding school for troubled teens and I loved it! I also try to volunteer at a hospice when I can. I like hospice work because of the wonderful experience with hospice care that we had when my mother passed away. I love working with elderly people, my grandpa lived with us for three years before he died and it was such a joy for me to be able to help him.
