Hi I'm Steve

I was born and raised in Arizona, USA. I am a firefighter in a nearby city and enjoy ranching with my family

About Me

I am married to my wife for nearly 30 years now, have 3 children and 1 1/2 grandchildren. I have lived in Arizona my entire life. I enjoy hiking many of the mountains and trails in Arizona with good friends. Most of my vacation time is spent at a family cattle ranch working with my immediate and extended family. It's enjoyable to work beside your father, son, daughters and cousins. I have been a firefighter in the nearby city of Chandler since 1980 and round out my free time installing residential carpet.

Why I am a Mormon

I have come to know that the truth lies in Jesus Christ. I am grateful to know that we do have a Father in Heaven who loves us and wants us to be with him. He has a plan, whereby we come to earth to learn and progress. Part of this learning is to find for ourselves what the truth really is. I have come to know that this truth existed many times in previous centuries as God spoke through prophets. We can read of them in the Old Testament. It existed again when Christ and his Apostles and followers lived 2000 years ago. But, as has happened so many times before, the truth was lost from the earth, in it's purest form, because God's children were not willing to continue on His paths. For some it is extremely hard to fathom, or appreciate, that God may have Prophets, real Prophets, on the earth today- as he did so many times before. I have come to believe, through study and prayer, that God called a boy to be a prophet- his name just happened to be Joseph Smith- and since that day has continued to guide and protect his truth through continuing prophets. No more far fetched than the followers of Moses, Elijah, Isaiah and Christ himself- they likewise had to find for themselves that these men spoke and wrote the truth. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the organization that God has established in these days- And I believe that a reader of the New Testament will recognize God's hand in setting up His church again as they study and learn about the "Mormon" church.

How I live my faith

I Live My Faith by serving in our Church. An interesting concept in the Lord's church is that we serve in "callings". That simply means that we willingly volunteer to serve as our leaders see fit to ask us to serve. I have had opportunities to serve as a leader in the men's organization, the youth organization, and presently assist our Stake President as a high councilor. I Live My Faith by trying to align my faith with the faith demonstrated by the Savior. I try to live my life by loving my family, neighbors, coworkers and even strangers. Ask some of them and they'll say I need to do better- and they are right. But I still keep trying. I Live My Faith at work. As a firefighter we have many opportunities to encounter those who are having a bad day- maybe their worst day- due to a death, an injury, an emotional event or nearly any other imaginable situation. My Faith gives me the perspective and ability to give some comfort and some compassion, as Christ teaches us to do to the "down-trodden" or those who are ailing. I Live My Faith by trying to do, what I really believe, that the Christ-like life is what we should strive for.
