Hi I'm Annilyn

I love my family, art, chemistry, cooking, and Russian. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived in Conneticut, France, England, Washington, California, Virginia, Ukraine, Utah, and Russia and my dad is not in the military. I am the oldest of five children, four girls and one boy. I love to travel and study different cultures. I'm studying art and chemistry because a babushka in Ukaine told me to go into art conservation...and it's a perfect fit for me. I love fairy tales, classic Russian novels, and art history. I spend my time painting with one hair brushes, cooking crazy, cultural feasts to share with my friends, and studying anything and everything. I LOVE learning! I'm currectly taking a year and a half break from my dearly beloved univeristy to serve a mission in the Ural mountains in Russia.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was seven years old I decided that I really needed to recieve a testimony of the truthfulness of this gospel before I was baptized, so I decided to read and pray about the Book of Mormon. This would be a challenging task for any seven year old, but it was especially difficult for me since I struggled with disgraphia. I wrote mirror image backwards and struggled to read Dr. Seuss books. But, I was determined. After a few weeks of reading on my own, my mom saw my desire and helped me to count out how many pages I would have to read to finish before my birthday. The count came out to five, which meant I had to read ALL the time. I read on the bus, at school, in my bed, at the dinner table, even during recess. It was hard, frusterating, and often discouraging, but the Lord strengthened me and increased my abilities so that I was able to finish the Book of Mormon and recieved a strong witness of its truthfulness before I chose to be baptized and become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Since that time, I have had many other spiritual experiences as I have sought to know my Savior better. My testimony has deepened and grown and I have recieved many blessings from my membership in the LDS church. I love the focus on learning and I love seeing how the God helps me come to know and understand His plan for me and for all His children. I know that God really does know me personally and answers my prays. He has time and again reaffirmed to me the truth of the Book of Mormon, the Plan of Salvation, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This has given me a testimony that I want to share with others so they can recieve the same knowledge and blessings.

How I live my faith

The gospel of Jesus Christ is a central part of my life. It colors my daily decisions and enriches my life. I hope by constantly striving to love God and my fellowmen, I can help others understand how much God loves all of us. I believe as we move closer to Christ and strive to live as his disciples, God is better able to use us as instruments to bring to pass his work here on the Earth, which help everyone receive eternal happiness. I know from experience that as I have sought to love God, he has helped me to see how I can become better and how I can help those around me. By seeking to stay close to the Spirit, I know I can receive God's direction in my life. As someone who has a great talent for stressing out, this blesses me with peace of mind, knowing that as I seek God's will, I will always be led towards true happiness. I also feel that all knowledge leads us to a better understanding of God. One of the reasons I love art history is because I feel that art has the ability to cause us to reach for something greater than what we are now. I am inspired by the great devotion displayed by artists throughout history. I want to help others understand the ennobling power of artistic masterpieces, because it can serve to remind us what God sees when he looks down at his creations.
