Hi I'm Rachel

I am a college student preparing for a mission. Music is my life. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently attending BYU and plan to major in music education! I spend just about all of the little free time I have with my guitar, singing my heart out. I miss my family and my ward family back home, but I love all the people I have met, and I know that this step in my life is part of God's plan for me. I have seven siblings and six step-siblings. I love having a big family and I hope to have one after I get married. I can't imagine living any other way. Some of my goals include going on a performing mission, getting married in the temple, writing music for the church, directing a youth choir, and working with children.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and have never really had much doubt that the gospel was true my entire life. When my dad left the church when I was younger, I was confused and I couldn't understand why he couldn't believe the church was true anymore. Talking to my mom, I decided I would ask my Heavenly Father for my own confirmation of the truthfulness of the gospel. I went into my room and said a simple, yet sincere prayer. I don't know what exactly I was expecting- the sun to shine brighter, the wind to blow harder, the heavens to rejoice in song- but I didn't feel anything right away. I wasn't too discouraged, I just figured I was looking for something too big, and I had missed it. Shortly thereafter we had a ward camp out. I still remember sitting around the campfire, surrounded by my ward family and singing "Families Can be Together Forever" In that moment I felt the spirit stronger than I had ever remembered. The spirit wasn't only saying "This is good" but was telling me "This is true". Since then, my testimony has only become stronger. I know that Jesus Christ is the son of God,and that he atoned for our sins. I have felt the healing power of the atonement so strongly in my own life, and I know because of it, we have the opportunity to rise each time we fall. I have also come to know of God's love for me personally. I know that he loves me more than I can even comprehend, just as he loves all of his children. I know that God sends people into our lives that lead and guide us. He also sends people into our lives that need to be led and guided. I have learned of the importance of watching for the people that are here to help and the people that need my help. I have learned how to recognize and act on the promptings of the Holy Ghost in both situations. I love my Savior and I love this gospel. These are the things I know to be true that I testify of in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I am currently attending a student singles ward at BYU in Provo. I go to church on Sundays, read my scriptures daily, and try to always have a prayer on my heart. I strive to live the commandments God has given me, in an effort to become more like my Savior, Jesus Christ, every day. Right now I am preparing to serve as a full time missionary in the Kansas Wichita Mission! I couldn't be more excited to invite God's children to come to Christ!
