Hi I'm Olivia

Born and raised in Snowflake Arizona, have a Bachelor's Degree in History, served in the Army National Guard. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Olivia, I am currently a college student. I was born and raised in a small town in Arizona all my life. In High School I liked to play sports, go hiking, horseback riding, boating, and anything that sounded adventurous. After High School I went to college for a year in New Mexico and then decided to join the military. The branch I swore into was the National Guard, I picked this because it still allowed me the opportunity to finish college and be a part of any community I wished to live in. After my basic training I moved to the state of Hawaii where I am currently attending school as a History major and serving in the Hawaii Army National Guard. I am also obtaining a certificate in Intercultural Peace Building. I love living in Hawaii, it has presented me with wonderful opportunities and to meet new people. When I am not doing school work or anything military oriented I like to go to the beach and explore the wonderful island of Oahu.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a long line of Church members on both sides of my family. I was born and raised in the Church and have been taught its precepts all my life. Even though The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only church I have belonged to I have found out for myself that it is the only true church here on the earth today. I have read the Book of Mormon several times as well as the Bible and have asked my Heavenly Father if what I have read is true. Through personal revelation and the power of the Holy Ghost I was able to know that this Church is true. I am a member of this Church because through its precepts I am able to draw closer to my Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ, and to try and become more like them. Through the Church I am able to know what my purpose here on Earth is and that I can live with my family forever. Through the Church I know that even though I am not perfect Jesus Christ was perfect and through his Atoning Sacrifice my sins can be forgiven me that someday I may be able to return and live with him. By reading the Book of Mormon I am able to know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet and that he restored the true Church of Christ on the Earth once again. I know that my Savior lives and that He died for us, that He has our best interest at heart and if we simple ask He will guide us and make us into the people He wants us to become. I love my Savior, I love being a member of this Church and the blessings it gives me, I love my family and I know if I continue to do what is right I will always be blessed. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by first going to Church every Sunday where I partake of the Sacrament and renew the covenants I made when I was baptized. Besides attending my ward once a week I also participate in events such as Family Home Evening where my family (or in my case at the moment) a bunch of college students get together and have a small lesson followed by a fun game. In the Church I also have a calling to help myself and others to find their ancestors and keep up on their family trees so they and other members of their family can access that information anytime they want. In the Church I am also a visiting teacher where I visit two sisters and just check up on them and see if they are doing well and leave them with a short message. I also take religion classes at the school I am attending, this helps me stay up on my knowledge of the gospel and lets me learn from others. I try and read my scriptures everyday as well as pray to my Father in Heaven for guidance and counsel in my life. Twice a year I am able to listen to modern day Prophets give advice and counsel to all the members of the Church throughout the world. I am blessed to live near a Temple and so at least once a month I try and attend and do work there.
