Hi I'm Bob

You know - with the Lord by your side and a good listening ear, the rest is academic. That's why I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of four siblings and was born in Holland 1945. Family migrated to Perth WA when I was ten where I finished my education before joining the RAAF as an apprentice aircraft engine fitter. Regrettably, it took me a long time to work out that when ordered to jump, you don't ask why but rather, how high. Ten years later with my prospects seriously curtailed it was time for a vocation change to sales and marketing. A much better fit, the world was my oyster again. From Motivational Courses to Solar Systems, Insurance to Mortgages and Finance, gravitating to Derivatives Trading and of course always with a foot in MLM. It's been a whirlwind with many highs and lows and invaluable experience comes at a price, so it's always a good thing to pay attention the first time round. I was fortunate to find my better halve when I was still young and she was younger and did not realize how much better she could have done, until it was a done deal. Now, forty-five years later, having raised four children with seventeen grand-children and counting plus HOOCH the dog (without the slobber), a bird whose unique name is BIRD, and four chickens (their longevity being precarious), I count myself truly blessed that she feels its more trouble than it's worth, to train another. I'm sure it must be the dog she's talking about. While our extended family is spread around the globe, we are grateful for the technology that makes geography manageable.

Why I am a Mormon

The jewel in our crown however, was when we found the Lord and his church which made it possible for us to be a family for ever, beyond the echo of that bitter / sweet pronouncement "till death do you part". I could never come to terms with the idea that the greatest source of joy and fulfilment in my life would come to an end as part of a loving Heavenly Fathers Plan. Particularly, having sent his Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to save us from the consequences of the fall of Adam and Eve. Further more, I have taken the opportunity over the forty-six years of my membership, to not only research it's doctrines, but have repeatedly put it to the test and continue to be amazed. The church is run by our lord Jesus Christ and he has enlisted the services of imperfect people like you and I who are trying to become a little better, day by day, often taking two steps forward and then one back, with one ear tuned to the noise of the world, while in the other, the Spirit whispers the guidance and direction needed for today. It is a testimony of the truthfulness of this church to me, that it's moral and ecclesiastical compasses are set steadfast in a world that has so lost it's way. While I don't profess to have all the answers yet, I do know from whence I came, Why I am here and Where I am going. This re-assurance let's me sleep peacefully at night and gives me direction and purpose by day. That the world is in big trouble comes as no surprise to me. Aside from the evidences of the scriptures and the council of a living prophet, you only need to open your eyes and ears to witness new extremes in nature and humankind. Interestingly enough, every one is pointing the finger as a justification for blame, and ignoring the three remaining fingers that are pointing back at themselves. My experience in sales and marketing tells me that ,that would be a hard sell but you know, the process will, of itself, make you a winner and that is your first responsibility.

How I live my faith

I am blessed, as a High Priest, to have the opportunity to give service in the Brisbane Temple and co-ordinate some of the activities there-in. It is truly a house of the Lord, where the saving ordinances for the living and the dead are performed by proxy. It is a sacred place where families, past and present, are united for eternity and the fulness of the Lords Plan of Happiness is brought within their reach. It is available to every man woman and child, upon obedience to the Lords commandments. Our savior and redeemer is Jesus Christ and it is by and through him and only him, that we may return to our Father in Heaven. It is, as we bring our will, into subjection to his, that we begin to appreciate the depth of his great love for us and the peace that can fill our whole soul. In a world that is hell bent on self destruction, it is a singularly unique experience. To overcome the natural man and become as a little child, is the pursuit of a lifetime because, as I continually find, the closer I think I am, the further I realize I am away. I would invite all sincere seekers after truth, to come and share in his abundant love and feel the peace that we have found in my friend and elder brother, Jesus Christ.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Bob
For any relationship to outlive the test of time, it must be built on those attributes taught us by the savior, be it with our spouse, siblings or community. When the Lord becomes our common denominator, there is no room for anything else that would cause offense or disharmony. It is more than just to say, or even to do, but rather, to be.
