Hi I'm Kevin

I grew up in Boise. I'm a student pursuing physical therapy and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up with 2 other brothers. I'm the middle child so there was a lot of fighting and taking sides my entire childhood. My parents raised all of us enjoying the outdoors and playing sports. We enjoy the outdoors, by mountain biking, running, fly-fishing, motorcycling, hiking, shooting, snowboarding, camping and so much more. It's always nice to get out and have that feeling of exploring new terrain and the peace that comes with that. I also grew up playing a wide variety of sports. Ever since I could remember I was obsessed with basketballs, footballs, baseballs etc. If it was round I would go for it and call it a ball. I played basketball, baseball, and golf competitively and also enjoyed the occasional football game with friends. To this day I enjoy the outdoors and sports, but I have college to keep me busy the majority of the time. Exercising and playing these sports helps me relax from the hectic life of a college student.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was baptized. As I grew older and became more rebellious as most teenagers do I questioned the validity of the church. I did not like all the rules and having to go to church all the time. It was a confusing period for me. I graduated high school with this same mentality not wanting to attend church and wanting to do my own thing. I went because my parents wanted me to. I also did not like the fact that I had to go on a mission. I did not like the pressure the church put on me. As the usual mission age of 19 approached and I saw all my friends go I decided that I would go too. I didn't really know why, but I decided I would because everyone said it is amazing. I got my papers sent and realized well I better know what I'm going to teach. I turned to the Book of Mormon and started reading it. I had tried reading it countless times before, but it was such a hard read for me. This time when I read something happened that had never happened before. I read and the book literally came to life. I know it sounds cliche, but this is what truly happened to me. I couldn't stop reading it. I marked words and verses that jumped out to me. The book made me feel so good. I felt like light was taking over my entire body. I felt like I was finally doing something with my life. Because of this experience I had and the 2 year mission I realize that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God. Heavenly Father sent him to atone for my sins and help me on this path of mortality. I know that Joseph Smith truly saw God the Father and Jesus Christ and that they are literal beings. I know that there is a living prophet today who guides and directs His church just as prophets of old did. I know that this life is a time to prepare to meet God and we need to choose to follow Christ. I know all of this because of the Book of Mormon. It's so amazing. I don't know where I would be without it all.

How I live my faith

I love helping people. I love making them smile and seeing people laugh. I do all that I can to make another person's day better. I try to open doors for people when appropriate, ask them how they are doing. I really just try to be a friend to everyone. My calling is to make sure that teachers are ready and prepared to teach lessons on the Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price. It's a great calling. I love going to homes and talking to members of the ward and seeing how they are doing and making them smile and have a good day.
