Hi I'm Kelley

I have been a Mormon my whole life.

About Me

I am currently attending college, but I graduate in May! I am studying Elementary Education with a specialization in Special Education, and last summer I received my Autism Endorsement. Even though every day is a different type of struggle with my students with special needs, I still love it more than anything. It's difficult and challenging and sometimes heartbreaking, but every triumph is a big deal and worth celebrating. When I find some free time, I like reading. Anything written by Jane Austen instantly has my attention. I am enough of a nerd to write notes in my books or my Kindle. If I had my way, I could read all day. Even though my life is pretty busy and hectic, I still like to sing, dance, listen to music, and play my violin whenever possible.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon. Just like any other person, I have had my chance to make my own choices regarding my personal beliefs. I have chosen to follow the teachings of the LDS church because I feel it is the truth. I have found an inner peace through scripture study and prayer that cannot be found anywhere else. I have always believed that Joseph Smith was the prophet of the Restoration. Over the years, I have visited many of the Church's historical sites, and every time I have gone, I have felt the Spirit testify to me of the importance of the events that took place at those sites. Through prayer and contemplation, I have felt my belief in Joseph Smith and his role in the Church change into a sure knowledge of his calling as a prophet of God in the Latter-Days. I have learned through experience that the Atonement is very real and very personal. It's humbling to me to think of someone so perfect to have such perfect, unconditional love for me to do whatever it takes to save me. I love my Savior and can't express adequately my gratitude for Him. I know He lives and loves me.

How I live my faith

Everyone I am associated with knows that I am a member of the Church. I live my faith by following the standards set by the Church. I keep the Word of Wisdom, and I'm not afraid to explain to my coworkers and peers why I don't drink or do other things. I serve in my ward as the music leader in Primary. I love my calling because I love music, and I love working with children. I believe that the Spirit communicates to us easily through music, and it's incredible to see the children feel the Spirit when we learn new songs or discuss the meaning or lesson behind a song they might already know.
