Hi I'm Heather

I had twins twice, and now I might be too tired to do anything else. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a science teacher who retired really early to raise twins. I had two singletons a few years later while my husband was serving in the US Air Force, and then, twins again when the first set was 17. (If you are planning on having two sets of twins, I recommend waiting until the first ones are old enough to be excellent help.) Now the oldest are in college, the middles are in middle and high school, and the youngest are making a lot of messes and reminding me I'm not really that young any more! My favorite things are family, reading, exercising (mostly after I stop each day), cookies and chocolate.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a descendant of Mormon pioneers who knew Joseph Smith and followed Brigham Young to the Salt Lake Valley. But I like to think that I'm enough of an educated and independent thinker that I wouldn't be a Mormon just because of my heritage. I have lived the teachings of this church long enough to have a firm belief that keeping the Lord's commandments really does bring happiness and peace. And I can't imagine abandoning a faith that has The Book of Mormon (my favorite book!) as its keystone and the doctrine of families being together (my absolute favorite thing!) in the heavens at its core. Through seeing the fruits of the gospel in my life and in the church, I have come to believe and even know that Jesus Christ is the resurrected savior of the world and leads our leaders through revelation.

How I live my faith

I teach a lesson once a month to the adult women in our church, and put together the program (document) for our church meetings every week. And I substitute quite often for teachers and pianists and music leaders who are out. Privately, I try to make time daily for prayer, scripture reading and meditation. I also try to offer service and the message of the gospel to people around me.
