Hi I'm Nick Gaughan

I'm a Mormon. I'm from southern California and am going to school in at Southern Virginia University.

About Me

I'm a student studying business and spanish. I play basketball for my university and I recently returned home from a 2 year mission for the church in Argentina. I love sports, music and having fun with my friends.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were baptized in the church when I was very little. I basically grew up in the church, but I've always had friends of distinct faiths and I'm very grateful for that. I was truly converted to the "mormonism" when I was about 18. I had always gone to church growing up and I knew the doctrine, but I had never done what was necessary in order to have my own testimony that what I had been taught my whole life was true. I don't remember a specific event that really changed my entire life but it was a process of reading the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon, and praying frequently and there was something that changed in me. I knew that what I was doing was right and that this was the true church. Reading the Book of Mormon was something that really helped me a lot. It is something that brings the Spirit of God really strongly and it was a key tool in my conversion to the gospel. I love this gospel and it is something that has made me an infinitely better person since I have started to apply all of its teachings in my life. I love my Savior and want to do everything possible to live with him and my family forever after this life.

How I live my faith

I recently returned from serving a full time, 2 year mission for the church in Argentina. I absolutely loved it. It was a life changing experience and I wouldn't change it for anything. Right now I'm studying and attending church in Virginia. I participate in something called home teaching which is when the members visit each other to see how they are doing both physically and spiritually. We always participate in service projects with the church and there are a lot of activities for young adults to meet each other, enjoy a wholesome environment and be able to meet people that share the same values. The church is a great place to be and I try to live in a way that reflects what the church and the Lord teaches.
