Hi I'm Carill-Ina

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my husband for 52 years. We are blessed with six son's, exceptional daughter-in-laws, and 27 grandchildren. I love my family. During our marriage, my husband was an athletic coach and taught math for 43 years. We also owned a store that specialized in using whole grains, and provided cooking classes to teach people how to use them. When we sold the store I thought I had retired, but a year or so later I worked in the school district and taught computer classes for the Adult Education program. After a couple of years I was offered a position in the corporate world and enjoyed that environment. After retiring again, I agreed to head a volunteer, non-profit, prison and sentencing reform organization for three years. It was a rewarding experience. We love to travel, we love our country, and we love our family.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church. My ancestors joined the Church in the early years of it's organization. Some of them heard about it when they lived in Wales, Ireland, Scotland and Sweden. They were convinced that The Church of Jesus Christ had been restored to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. Their convictions were so strong that they left their homes and migrated to the United States to be with other members of the Church. Some of my ancestors traveled across the plains from Nauvoo, Illinois to the Salt Lake Valley in wagons. Others came later and traveled by ship and train. As a child of eight, (the age most children born into the Church are baptized) my Bishop called me in for a baptismal interview. When he asked me was if I knew the Church was true, I heard a voice in my mind say, "Joseph Smith was a Prophet, and everything else you need to know will come later". I told the Bishop "yes" I knew the Church was true. My experiences since that time have confirmed over and over that The Church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth and the Book of Mormon was translated from ancient records. It is another testament of Jesus Christ. We have a loving Father in Heaven who loves all of his children, and a Savior, Jesus Christ, who atoned for our sins. I can testify to you, that the veil is thin between this world and the Spirit world. There are people on both sides of the veil that love us and will stand by us through our trials and our joy. Families can be together forever.

How I live my faith

My husband and I served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Church History Department in Salt Lake City. It was a rewarding and spiritual experience. We currently have two grandsons serving missions - one in Texas, the other in Peru. They both love sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all those who are interested. Over a period of 28 years, I taught in the women's organization of the Church and served as a leader in that organization. Recently served as a teacher for young children (7-8) and 12 year old boys and girls for several years. I am Indexing old records (birth, death, wedding, etc.) to make the information available to people around the world who are interested in genealogy and the history of their ancestors. I correspond with a few men I met while serving as the Executive Director of a prison and sentencing reform organization a few years ago. They have committed crimes but are striving to overcome their past and improve their lives. The letters give them encouragement and support - especially those who have little contact with their family. Visit neighbors and friends in the neighborhood and assist them as needed. Love my husband, children and grandchildren.
