Hi I'm Elder David Nabrotzky

I'm a huge nerd, I'm a small town guy, I love to serve, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm a big gamer (board games, video games, card games). I like action movies. I didn't do too well in school before, but in the end i graduated with honors. i base my life on the standards of the church, which in turn keeps me a positive attitude in life. I am currently serving a full time mission in the Canada Edmonton Mission. I've wanted to serve since I was a little boy. I love to serve others because it gives me great joy to put a smile on someone else's face. I have a passion for transformers, love the idea, love everything about them and keeps me a kid at heart :-) .

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, but I wasn't always active in it. My parents divorced in 2005, and it got to a point that i became angry at them for decisions they made, and in turn i became rebellious, thereby leaving the church. But in the time I wasn't fully active, I learned the hard way that life isn't the same without it, even though I still based my life around most principals found in it. I've learned that if you look at life negatively, it will be negative. And that's what this church does, it gives you a positive look at life. It brings you truth. It gives you a hope that can never be taken away. I learned that trials make us stronger, and in turn was able to learn to forgive and love my parents despite what happened, and it made me stronger. That in turn helped increase my desire to serve a mission for the church, so I can spread the happy news we have.

How I live my faith

I live with love for others. Everything Christ did was out of love, and he's my inspiration to become better. My love for others in turn brings me joy in service. I recently became a blood donor, and it's a great feeling to know that i can save others in my service. When I'm older I want to become a police officer so I can truly serve my fellow man, and serve as a disciple of Jesus Christ. I want to try and give better service in the community when i return home, like visiting long term care seniors at a hospital, or volunteer at a food bank. Something like that. I also try to stay positive. If I truly live my faith, I should always be happy, cause there's nothing to worry about. It'l all be taken care of by God, cause it's in him I trust. Above all, I try to be the best example for others. We need a lot more of those kinds of people nowadays. Christ is my example, and he'd want me to do the same.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Elder David Nabrotzky
Absolutely not. Though he is mentioned maybe once in every church meeting we would ever have, he is not God, nor our Savior. But there will be some who feel forever grateful for him and the sacrifices he made to make this church possible, and so a lot of us, if not all of us, would praise him, including myself. He, along with help as the church grew, was able to do that which was most difficult, it's just that simple. Show more Show less

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

Elder David Nabrotzky
We use to. To understand why, you have to understand what a Prophet is. Prophets are chosen men to speak the will of the lord to his people. And so, because we believe that Joseph Smith was a Prophet, when he said to practice it, we obeyed. I assure you, however, he and the other church leaders of that time were very opposed to the idea, but went through with it because the Lord commanded it. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."(Isaiah 55:8-9). The Lord had a wise purpose to it. Nowadays, we do not, and anyone out there who does is not affiliated with our church. Simple as that Show more Show less
