Hi I'm Jenna

I'm my father's daughter. I'm the only girl of four. I'm a happy wife. I'm a teacher. I love man-made nature. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a family of all brothers, so I am pretty independent! I love to read, watch movies, and listen to music. I love to go dancing. In High School, my friends and I would go swing dancing at the Elk's club on the weekends. What a blast! I studied Elementary Education in college and loved being a 5th grade teacher! I love driving to new places and finding fun new things to look at. Being an American, I would have to say that being able to drive wherever you want whenever you want is the ultimate symbol of freedom. I also love man-made nature like swimming pools and parks. I bet I can do an underwater hand stand longer than you. I haven't met anyone that can beat me, yet. I love America for the Parks and Recreations department and for libraries! What a great way for everyone to learn! I also love participating in music. I played the Viola all through Elementary school and High School and I've sung since I can remember. I enjoyed being a member of the Divine Heritage Choir, now named Example of the Believers. Check them out on Facebook! They're amazing. I served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New Hampshire Manchester Mission because I know it is one of the most important messages to share in life. Sharing is caring! I met my husband through a mutual friend and I love him so much! I'm grateful that through our Heavenly Father's plan, our most treasured relationships can last through eternity.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I need the influence of the Holy Ghost in my life! I need the Savior's strength to do the really hard things. Sometimes, when it feels like no one else is there, I know that He is! For Him to ask me to make and keep sacred covenants and serve in the kingdom to receive the countless blessings Heavenly Father gives us, seems like a small contribution in comparison. When nothing else is going right, I know that the gospel is! It's the truest source of happiness and peace in my life. I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for each of us, as His spirit children. I know that that His plan isn't always the plan we want for ourselves. I know that He sent His only begotten Son to atone for us because He knew we could never return to live with Him without a Savior! I know that Jesus is the Christ and that He loved us enough to come to Earth, be 100% obedient to God, doing nothing of Himself, but what the Father asked Him to do. I know that He loved us enough to take on the pains, sicknesses, sins, and sorrows of each of us so that He can redeem us and help us. He always knows how we feel because He felt it! I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet, called by God to restore The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, that we might have the authority, ordinances, and revelation that come with living the fulness of the gospel. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, another Testament of Jesus Christ to teach the children of men the doctrine of Christ and how they can follow Him. I know that we have a living prophet today. His name is Thomas S. Monson. He teaches us God's will and word, so that we won't be confused in these times of temptation and turmoil. I know that we can know for ourselves the truth of this message through the quiet, comforting voice of the Holy Ghost who teaches us the truth of all things. Our lives will never be easy or trial-free, but we wouldn't want them to be. We knew and were excited about the plan before we came!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by applying spiritual CPR (church, praying, and reading my scriptures) and serving others. I love that everyone in the church has a job where they volunteer their energy, talents, and time. These church assignments help us grow and be humble. I learned this when my bishop asked me to be the women's organization president. It was a really hard calling, and I definitely wasn't perfect at it, but I really learned some valuable life lessons, like the fact that it's not all about me! I'm so glad I now understand better, how important agency, or the ability to choose, is to Heavenly Father. It is a sacred gift that He gives us, and He will never take it away, even when we use it to do bad things. I also know that as we are humble, we will be amazed to see God's hand in our lives and it only motivates us to become better and to do more. I know that callings, or church jobs, help us come closer to the Savior as we selflessly, or at least try to selflessly serve others and do our part to build His kingdom. It amazes me that the Savior was perfectly obedient and took no thought for Himself, but did all that the Father required of Him. A lot of times, "I'm more narcissistic than I give myself credit for." No one is perfect, and sometimes our sorrows can come from church members, but I always know that as I try to do the right thing, I am blessed and the gospel of Jesus Christ helps me become the person that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ know I can be, with their help.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Jenna
Women don't hold the priesthood because it is not part of our responsibility in life. I know there was a time in my life, where I struggled with this! I tried to build my faith and prayed and studied about it and the answer that I received from Heavenly Father was that it's not because He doesn't love or trust us, but because it is the way that His plan is organized. He wants us to return to live with Him and because He wants us back so badly, He has organized several safety nets to help us return. One of these is the organization of the priesthood. Not only does the church have the responsibility to take care of the women, but the men do as well! All of us women have several people, who are responsible for getting us back to our eternal home, like fathers and husbands! I know He loves us so-o much! We definitely enjoy the blessings of the priesthood and for so many worthy men to hold and exercise it righteously, I am truly grateful! I also know that Heavenly Father wants us to trust Him, and as we do everything we can, He will bless us with that knowledge! Ephesians 5:23-25 Show more Show less
