Hi I'm Jim Nelson

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Husband, father and grandfather. My wife and I have 5 awesome children - 3 have married and have children of their own - 2 still live at home and attend high school. We have 8 wonderful granchildren ranging from 3 to 10 years old.

Why I am a Mormon

I did not grow up in the church. My mother taught my brothers and me about God and tried to take us to church. My father had no place in his life for religion but appreciated the good it played in people’s lives. I was acquainted with the church through extended family and attended 3 - 4 times as a youth. As I grew I developed stronger interests in the meaning of life - where did I come from, why am I here, and where am I going? I attended various churches in my late teens but was never content with their teachings - some were very confusing. Many of the friends I was attracted to were Mormon. I ultimately was challenged by my grandmother to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. I prayed and asked Heavenly Father if it was true. The answer came strong and clear to my mind and heart that it was true. I had a witness from the Holy Ghost. I can say that I knew it, that our Heavenly Father knew that I knew it, and I dare not deny that the church is true. I was baptized at the age of 20. My testimony has been strengthened throughout my life through answers to prayers, blessings that have healed and many other miracles I have witnessed.

How I live my faith

I try to be an example to others by the way I live. I am not perfect. I make mistakes. But I have had many people tell me "I knew you were a Mormon because of how you act". I have served in many, many callings in the church and get great satisfaction through that service. Serving others has also helped me to learn more about and grow closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
