Hi I'm Justin

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a 'conventional' Australian family. Mum, Dad, two brothers, two sisters. After completing school I left home and studied theatre and education. I started my own theatre company and produced work for a number of years. After finding that this career wasn't something I wanted to pursue for the rest of my life I started to search for something more fulfilling, something that allowed me to provide a greater level of service to my fellow man. Currently I am still searching for my calling. I work to pay my bills, but I am content in knowing that this time of my life has been set aside for me to work on my spiritual, mental and physical self, and that when I am prepared, God will reveal his plan for me. I have been known to be addicted to TV and watch almost anything and everything. I love comic books and am developing a passion for fantasy and science fiction.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Christian family where my parents were ministers in the Salvation Army church. During the time just after I left home I left my relationship with God and abandoned by previous beliefs and decided I would do whatever made me feel good at the time. I found an emptiness in the mentality of that lifestyle and began to search for God again. Through my searches I felt compelled to attend a Sunday sacrament service at my local meetinghouse. Not knowing anything about the church (besides the misinformed warnings of friends/family) I was pleasantly surprised by the warmth and welcome with which I was met. I had the indescribable and undeniable feeling of being in the right place at the right time. I then spent time learning from the missionaries, I relished the opportunity to be able to ask all the deep theological questions I had been pondering and loved that I was answered with respect and thoughtful responses. As I continued to learn I felt as if I was learning truths that I had once known but had forgotten. Everything just made perfect sense. All my concerns, worries and fears were washed away as I learnt what I was here for. I made the decision quite early on to be baptised a member of the church and I do not regret that decision at any time. It has given me standards that I can be proud of. It has introduced me to friends that I will have for a lifetime and has brought me back onto the path so that I can live with my Heavenly Father again. I love this church, there is no other place I would prefer to belong and I truly believe the world would be a better place if everyone was a Mormon.

How I live my faith

As I am a new member I am just finding ways of making correct choices in my life. Choices that will make myself, my Heavenly Father and my family proud. I am enjoying the feeling of being free from the consequences of bad choices and trying to find ways to show to my friends that they can enjoy this freedom too if they study the teachings of the church and commit to them. I love attending Sunday Services and enjoy the friendships I am developing there. I look forward to being more involved in the church and eventually serving my mission.
