Hi I'm April

I am a mother of 4, a wife, a recent college graduate, and an avid card maker and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother to 4 beautiful children. I just finished my bachelors in System Network Administration and have returned to work after 9 years of being home with my children. I run a business from my home teaching card making classes. I love having that outlet for creativity. It keeps me sane.

Why I am a Mormon

11 years ago, pregnant with my first child, I started to feel a pull back to church. I wanted my children to understand that Heavenly Father loves them and has a plan for their lives. We started searching for a church where we felt we belonged. We tried many churches but none seemed to feel right. We were about to give up, when friends we had know for 6 years invited us to dinner. That was a turning point in our life. By this point, the child I was pregnant with was nearly a year old; and we were still searching. We met that night with two missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was a little angry at first that they would set up a meeting without our knowledge. Today I am very grateful that they followed the spirit and did as the Lord bade them. A missionary recited Joseph Smith's testimony (which is found in the beginning of the Book of Mormon). I felt the Holy Spirit so strong, and I knew at that moment that this was the true church of Christ and this was the church that I was too belong. The Spirit testified so strongly there was no doubt. My husband and I began taking the missionary lessons and were soon baptized into the Church. As I have studies the Old and New Testaments, along side the Book of Mormon, I can see the parallel. I feel closer to my Heavenly Father than ever before. I can now see the hand of God in place in my life. I have a testimony of the love that my Heavenly Father has for each of us. He know us individually. We are his children and he waits for us to come to him in our own time and to seek the knowledge we require. I testify to you, that if you ask with a humble heart, fully expecting an answer, and then listen for that still small voice, that feeling of comfort, the Lord will answer and testify to you of his presence in your life. There is a song in our hymnal that says, "I know my Father Lives and loves me too. The Spirit whispers this to me and tells me it is true." I believe that with my whole heart.

How I live my faith

I currently serve in the church as a music conductor for Sunday meetings. I am also the choir director. I also do follow up with the women's organization regarding spiritual and physical needs in our group. We try to keep the Spirit of the Gospel in our homes, although some times it is tough to keep your family removed from the things of the world. I love to serve at the local Ronald McDonald House, bringing my talent of teaching card making classes to the families there. It provides them some time where they can relax and forget about the trials they are facing with their health or the health of a love one. My goal is to be Christ-like. To be aware of those around me who may be struggling or in need and be able to reach out to them and help them where I can.
