Hi I'm Marquis

Life is good. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and proud father of two little girls. I enjoy sports, both watching and playing. I got bit by the golf bug a few years back. It didn't hurt at all. I found a lot of life's lessons relate to golf. Honesty, respect, nature, patience, penalized for going out of bounds and breaking the rules. All aspects of the game can teach us something. Although I love the game, it's my family that makes me smile inside and out. Having my girls run up to me with glowing faces at the end of a hard day at work, makes me realize how blessed I truly am. Sometimes I stand amazed that someone believed in me so much to give me the awesome responsibility of raising a family.

Why I am a Mormon

It was someone's example that attracted me to the church. A friend of mine was always helping others, going to church, making good choices and most of all always putting others before himself. At a time in my life when I was alone, unhappy, and just making it through life because I had to, here was someone living life and making the most out of each and everyday. So one day I asked him why is he so happy and how does he do it. He told me he lives his life the way he does because of the love he has for Jesus Christ. That Jesus endured much pain and gave his life that we may return to our Father in Heaven to our true home and have everlasting joy. He told me that we are all known personally by Jesus and Heavenly Father and we have come to this earth to have experiences of our own and to choose good over evil that we may partake in all the blessings that are in store for us. This had a major impact on me and I wanted to know Jesus as he knows me. After reading parts of the Book of Mormon it gave me greater insight of the Bible and I knew it to be the word of God and another testimony of our Savior and Redeemer. My life quickly changed. I had joy, I had a deeper knowledge of life and why we are here and where we are going. I found true love and Married my soul mate. Together we started a family an eternal family. And although life has many twist and turns, we have always been able to rely on Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

Heavenly Father has given me so much and ask so very little of me. I try my best to do my part. Over the years I have been able to work with the youth of our church. I have taught Sunday School to our young men and women. I've been able to be a part of our Nursery program and watch after our little ones so parents can go to other classes. My favorite calling has been teaching early morning Seminary to high school students. I am so amazed that teenage kids are willing to wake up each morning to learn about the gospel before they go to school. There is no better way to start the day. I have only been a member of the church for 8 years and the church is so active. There is always opportunity to serve. All you have to do is raise your hand and accept callings as they are presented to you.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Marquis
A Testimony is a personal witness of what someone knows to be true. Our testimonies continue to grow as we continue to grow spiritually. Most importantly we are standing witness and professing that Jesus is the Christ, our redeemer our Savior. That he atoned for our sins that through his blood we may be made clean and return to Heavenly Father. I think of it as something that is so important to me it would be wrong to keep to myself. It must be shared as I want everyone to find the joy I have found. It all starts with sharing what I've learned with those around me. Show more Show less
