Hi I'm Emily

I love the sunshine, rain, and snow. I love learning, I love my family, and I love Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Taber, AB, Canada as the 3rd of 7 children. I love my family, they are brilliant! For the past 4 years I lived in the chilly city of Edmonton, AB, Canada. It was usually white outside and cold. I studied Nanotechnology at Nait and I loved it. I love to learn. I live to learn! When I am not learning and progressing I am not happy. I have just recently embarked on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Scotland and Ireland. I am very grateful for the opportunity that I have to serve the Lord in this way.

Why I am a Mormon

Some may say that I was raised to be a mormon. But that’s not what I would say. I was raised to be a strong and smart individual. I was taught to recognize truth. And I have recognized truth in the teachings of this church. I have doubted people, I have doubted governments, I have doubted science, and I have doubted my own abilities. However, I have never been able to deny God’s power, and that is because I have felt it and it is more tangible and real than anything else I have experienced. The reason I am a mormon is because I recognize that Jesus Christ died for me, that he loves me, and that he atoned for me in such a way that I can live again after death. I am a mormon because with and through Christ, I can become something greater than I could on my own. Together, we’ve been working on finding out who I am, and who I can become.

How I live my faith

Life can be confusing, complicated and exhausting. It can be hard to see clearly, especially in an age of relativity. Life is messy, and it is by being anchored that I can get through this mess unscathed. In fact, as I anchor myself to the teachings of Jesus Christ I can grow and become better because of what I go through. This is not without hard work and sacrifice. I live my faith by abstaining from things that bring immediate gratification and eternal dissatisfaction and hunger. So many people search for happiness through these things. I have found happiness in simple things; the things that last forever: Smiles, kindness, hard work, accomplishing goals, sharing impressions, giving advice, sharing what I believe, strengthening myself through scripture, and through communicating with God through prayer. Many of these things are so simple and seemingly insignificant, but I have realized that often the magnitude of the actions and decisions I make in life is not so important as the direction that they will take me. I have chosen to serve a mission to bring people closer to Jesus Christ. In doing this my faith has been strengthened as I have shared His message of peace with those who need it. It has also brought me happiness by giving me the opportunity to spend 18 months serving other people. It truly puts life into perspective.
