Hi I'm Jackie

I'm a Mormon. I'm a part time student, employee, and piano teacher.

About Me

I am the second youngest out of six kids and enjoyed growing up in a large family. Something that everybody in my family shares is the love of music - all of sing and play at least one instrument and many of my favorite memories are hearing my parents sing while my dad played the guitar or singing together as a family during holidays. The example of my oldest sister led me to pursue the harp and piano which I am currently still playing. Another hobby I have and which led me to my current profession and choice of graduate program is reading. I love opening up a new book and seeing where it takes me along with sharing my favorites with others. Because of this, I spent a lot of time in libraries growing up and am currently pursuing my master's in library science while working part time in a library. Besides music and reading I also enjoy doing cross stitch and usually end up making them for gifts. When I'm not doing any of these things I love spending time with friends and family when I have the chance.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up with a strong heritage of membership in the church because of ancestors who accepted the gospel and parents who continued to live the same gospel which allowed me to be baptized at 8 years old. I have decided to continue in living what I have been taught by my parents and leaders because when I do I am truly happy. My love of the gospel and this church and the desire to continue and follow it was further solidified when I had the opportunity to serve a mission for a year and a half in the Phillippines. I had the opportunity to study, live, and preach about the church and our beliefs 24/7. Although it was difficult in every aspect, it was the closest I had ever felt to God and Jesus Christ. I knew that he was there lifting my burdens every day and making what I thought impossible, possible. I can't think of anything else I would rather be than what I am. Having the knowledge of the gospel and following it gives me peace, purpose and joy no matter what is going on in my life or in the world. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith simply by living it. I strive to be the best example of what I have been taught in how I treat myself and others. To me, living something is as simple as doing it.
