Hi I'm Katelyn

I love music, I love making people laugh, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Katelyn Nance. My family lives in Florida but I have recently been attending Brigham Young University. I will be spending May 2016-November 2017 in Porto, Portugal serving a mission for this church. I love music- I play the piano, guitar and the flute. I love the outdoors- running, skiing, snowboarding, hiking, nature photography, water skiing, swimming- you name it I'm there. I plan to major in recreational therapy, and serve others in that manner in the future. I hope to someday raise a family as well. Overall I'd consider myself a pretty funny person- I absolutely love making people laugh! I love to smile and be with people that like to be active too.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family so I've grown up with the gospel my whole life. I am a Mormon mostly because I love the church and whenever I am at church or doing church activities I feel really happy. The church has helped me get through some of the hardest parts of my life, including times when I've felt most alone. The Atonement has cleansed me of mistakes I have made, and has made me whole and clean again. The gospel gives me purpose. We live in a world that has explanation for everything- what we are, how the body works, where the earth came from etc. And maybe some of the theories are true- maybe some of their explanations are in fact how God did it! He is the Great Scientist! But what the world cannot explain is WHY we are here, why we have bodies, why we go through hard times, why we go through good times. The gospel explains that, (and all the other questions too!) But most importantly the gospel explains why we are on this earth, and the potential we have if we keep God's commandments and press forward with faith. That knowledge is what keeps me going, and that truth is what I grasp onto every time I feel doubt. I LOVE this gospel and I love my Savior.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping God's commandments. I live my faith by loving my brothers and sisters and by serving them. I live my faith by constantly trying to be better, and to improve myself as I prepare to meet my Father in Heaven again. I live my faith by submitting my will to the Lord's will and trying to live the way he would have me live. For the next 18 months I will live my faith by following God's will for me and serving a mission in Porto, Portugal. There I will share this gospel that I love so deeply with the wonderful people there.
