Hi I'm Robert

I was born and raised in the southeast. I'm a husband, a father, a grandfather and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of three and a grandfather of 1. I enjoy the time I spend with my family. There are those moments when you need a place to recharge from the activities of life. I find peace and solace riding my motorcycle. The beauty of nature and the solitude that comes with no distractions allows me to focus on the important things in my life. I have always been someone who values the family. I have fun doing things with my wife and children. I have a love for growing things whether it be in the garden or yard. I enjoy the challenges that come from small scale farming and experimenting with new ideas and methods to grow food and provide comfort for my family. I have spent the past 20 years working as an indoor air quality specialist. I am a principal partner in a successful small business.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. I enjoyed all the benefits of its teaching from my birth. Yet, I had to find out for myself the truth of the things I had been taught. I did so as a young man. I was fortunate to be called to serve a mission in southeastern England. I know that my choice to serve a mission was the right thing for me. I had always felt the closeness and power of the Savior's teachings. But, I had never truly prayed if the principles that I would be called upon to teach were true. I felt they were true and I knew they were right for me, but I knew that I had to seek my answer in prayer. I came to know with asurrity that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored in its fullness to the earth. I know that the principles of the gospel are true. I know with all my heart that the heavens are not sealed, that God speaks to man today through a living prophet. He has restored the full nature of his power to the earth as taught by the Savior during his ministry. I and my family are blessed as we live the gospel, keep the commandments and follow the Savior's example of loving others. We are on a life time path back to Him. How comforting it is to know that He hears my pleas and helps me fulfill my righteous desires. I know that in a world full of confusion that I can find peace in knowing that I am a son of God, that he know me and hears my prayers. I am eternally grateful for His endless love for me in all my weaknesses.

How I live my faith

I have been fortunate to work within my community and within my church family. I have had the opportunity to serve in the church in various positions, some of my callings placed me in positions of leadership. Within our faith a leader is one who is called to serve. It is humbling to be called to watch over those within your care. But, I look at any opportunity to serve as just another way in which I can do as directed by the Savior. He spent his mortal days in the service of others. There is a special joy that comes when we serve those in need. I have found that I do not need a calling to reach out to help a person in need. It is a daily activity for me. I look forward to the moment when I can offer a kind word, a helping hand or just a smile. My children used to ask if I knew the person I was speaking to. But, now they understand why I enjoy talking to the cashier, the waitress or the man on the street. I have come to realize that it is those brief moments of kindness that help me draw nearer to my Heavenly Father.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Heavenly Father knows who we are, yet getting to know God requires action on our part. I have found that it is when I seek him in prayer that I feel closer to him. There have been those moments in my life where I may have felt distant. But it is when I open my heart to him and study the scriptures that I feel His love for me. Show more Show less
