Hi I'm Jamie

I'm a twin. I speak French and love anything to do with the word French. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a full-time missionary. I go around all day every day inviting people to follow Jesus Christ and find true happiness. Before my service as a missionary I went to college where I studied French and business. I spent a summer abroad in Paris and I loved it. I love spending time with my family doing things such as playing cards, watching/playing sports, or just having fun. My hobbies include tennis, reading, running, watching sports, learning new things, etc. I love bargain shopping, history, and traveling. High heels are my favorite shoes. Nutrition is my latest fascination.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because I know that the only way to return to my Heavenly Father is to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because of my faith in Him I try my best to live my life the way He would want me to. In the Bible Jesus invited others to come follow Him. He preached repentance to everyone. And He told us that we must be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost. And then we must keep on the path until the end of our lives. That is what I try to do as a member of His church. Something that I have learned from my study of the scriptures is that God has a role for each one of His children. Certain men are called as prophets to hold God's authority and run his church on the earth. After Jesus Christ was killed that authority was lost from the earth for a time, but God called Joseph Smith as a prophet and restored that authority to him. Because of that I was able to be baptized by the same authority that Jesus Christ was baptized by when I was 8 years old. Being a missionary and sharing the gospel with people on a daily basis has helped to increase my faith and helped me understand how important baptism really is. The thing I love most about this church is that we are promised that we can be together forever with our families if we live righteously. Through that same priesthood authority we can be sealed together so that we can live as families even after this life. That means the world to me because my family means so much to me. I know that if I continue to have faith in Jesus Christ and repent of my sins that He will forgive me and that I can make it back to live with Him someday along with my family.

How I live my faith

Right now I live my faith by going out every day and inviting others to come follow Jesus Christ. Where I am most people already have great faith in Jesus Christ, so I just invite them to come to know Him more fully--none of us are perfect. My missionary service involves talking to people, teaching them, and helping them prepare to be baptized for the remission of their sins. I love what I do because I get to see people change their lives and find true happiness. Along with teaching the gospel as a missionary, I do my best to live it. Each day my missionary companion and I look for ways that we can serve others around us. I spend time each day studying the scriptures and I have really come to love them.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We don't worship Joseph Smith. We worship Jesus Christ. But we do think of him in the same way we think of any prophet such as Moses or Abraham--as a righteous man who did great things with the help of God. Show more Show less

What are Mormon Temples used for?

In the temples we can perform ordinances such as baptism for people who didn't have a chance to be baptized while on earth. We can also be sealed together forever as families by the power of God. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

We can increase our faith in Jesus Christ by learning about Him and His gospel and then living the way He would have us live. As we live the commandments and have love and charity towards everyone, we can see that God is pleased with us and will bless us. Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was a young man who was born in New York in the early 1800s. He was seeking for religious truth so he prayed and had a remarkable vision where he saw God the Father and Jesus Christ. They called him to be a prophet to restore Jesus Christ's church on the earth--just like prophets of old had taught the people about Jesus Christ and tried to prepare them for the coming of Jesus Christ.
