Hi I'm Marilyn

I'm a mom. I'm a grandma. I love to make quilts. I love the Spanish language. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in the city of my birth; however, I wasn't raised here. I have seven children and nearly 12 grandchildren. I am fortunate that they all live close by and I'm able to spend time with all of them on a regular basis. I have always loved the Spanish language and as my children have gotten older, I have learned the language. In my spare time I love to sew and make quilts for my family. Although I have not completed all my formal education, I am passionate about learning and find great pleasure in reading and studying about anything and everything. I love to garden and and due to our fantastic climate in the winter, I am able to grow lots of vegetables all year round. I guess I would consider myself a sort of "health food nut."

Why I am a Mormon

I have a wonderful heritage of membership in the Mormon faith, but I had to gain my own testimony through study and prayer. My faith keeps me going in troubled times. In December of 2010, my 10th grandchild passed away only hours after her birth. Although this has caused great sorrow in my life, I rejoice in my testimony and knowledge that I will see her again! She lives now and because of my Savior, Jesus Christ, his resurrection and Atonement I know that we will all be reunited again someday. When I am troubled and fearful, the gospel brings peace.

How I live my faith

Currently I serve with my husband in a Spanish speaking congregation. I am the leader of the women's organization. It takes up many hours of my day, but I find great joy in serving my Hispanic brothers and sisters. Although I don't consider myself perfectly fluent in the language, my sisters have great patience and love for me.

Are Mormons Christians?

Marilyn
Yes most definitely. The official name of our church is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints." To quote from the Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 25: 26 "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." In my life, I study the words of Christ daily and try to model my life after His life and His teachings. He is my Savior and Redeemer. I love Him with all my heart. Show more Show less
