Hi I'm Chris

I'm a Mormon, college student, fisherman, and improv comic.

About Me

I'm the president of my university improv comedy club- it's a blast! I was a foreign exchange student in Kawasaki, Japan where I learned Japanese. I served as a missionary for 2 years in Ukraine where I learned Ukrainian and also Russian. I play the french horn and started learning the bagpipes. I am a 3rd degree black belt in Taekwondo. I love tying flies and fly fishing. I like watercolor painting, drawing, and scultpting. I'm a jack of all trades and a master of none!

Why I am a Mormon

I wouldn't say I was born in the church... it was more of a hospital really. Although it was "LDS Hospital", so maybe not. Anyway, from my earliest days I remember how good I felt at church in the children's classes and believed that what I was taught was true. When I was 9 I decided to read the scriptures by myself every day, starting with the Bible. When I was 12 I began to more seriously question whether the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints really was Jesus Christ's church. In answer to sincere, consistent prayers, I felt in my heart and mind through the Holy Ghost that this really is His church. My answer came as a warm, peaceful, loving feeling. Since then, the results of living the teachings are additional evidence to me.

How I live my faith

Every day I try to serve somebody in some way- when it comes right down to it, that's what Jesus taught. We help each other become better and happier and someday return to live with God in heaven. Life is hard enough without picking fights! We're all on the same team and should be nice to each other.

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

Chris
God communicates to us through the Holy Ghost. Learning to recognize the Holy Ghost is essential- all of your faith depends on it! The Holy Ghost speaks to both your mind and heart. In your mind, it's often describe as a sudden "knowing" or "understanding." In your heart, it's described as a unique feeling of comfort and peace. In the same way I couldn't describe the taste of salt, I can't describe the Holy Ghost with words- it's something you need to experience for yourself! Don't worry about whether what your feeling is you or the Holy Ghost. If you haven't already, try praying sincerely to God. Don't feel like you already have to know exactly what will happen. Try it as an experiment and see what happens. You may not get your answer immediately, but it will come. And when you feel it, you will know. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Chris
Faith is trusting God even when you don't have all the answers- it's a choice. When you're faced with something you don't understand, you have to choose to trust God until you do. You can pray for courage to keep moving forward. Past experience can make this easier too. Show more Show less
