Hi I'm Stewart

I grew up in Washington State. My career is in computer systems security and privacy and I like working with wood. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband, father and grandfather. I have been married to my lovely wife for 27 years. We have five children (4 boys and 1 girl) and five grandchildren (well, almost). Since my father was in the US Navy for 26 years, I lived many different places as a kid, but have lived in Washington State since the 5th grade. I grew up on a ranch where we raised cattle, pigs, chickens, etc. I spent my days roaming the mountains of Eastern Washington with my dog "Scruffy". I have worked in computer networking for 25 years. I currently work with computer system security. What I enjoy most about this would be penetration testing. This is what some people refer to as "Ethical Hacking". I also work with companies and assist with compliance with federal security regulations. When I'm not doing this, I enjoy working with wood, working in my yard and vegetable garden, shooting guns and reloading my own ammo, although I'm not a hunter. I just like target shooting. I also like hiking, snowmobiling, water skiing, snow skiing and hanging out with my kids (when they're around). I have a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6 motorcycle which I really enjoy riding, but I really need to upgrade to a cruising bike. I've been riding motorcycles since I was 14 years old.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were members of the LDS church when I was born. I was raised in the church and taught the gospel of Jesus Christ my entire life. However, I was not truly converted until I was in my late teens. Through my own studying, contemplating the questions of life, and praying I received a witness that the things that I was being taught were true. I have always been grateful for the knowledge that the gospel of Jesus Christ brings to my life. The understanding that it gives me about our purpose here on this earth, where we came from before we were born, and what will happen to us after we leave this earth life has been a great comfort and blessing to me throughout my life. It allows me to focus on those things that are most important and helps me to not worry too much about the trials and struggles that come along, because I know that God is in control, that He loves me, and that He will not allow me to go through these trials alone. He gives me the strength to accomplish all that I put my mind to and He will be there to welcome me when I leave this earth life and return to Him again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a good example to those around me. I try to help others see that you can enjoy life and get great satisfaction out of it without needing to participate in the things in life that will drag you down. I currently serve in the church as a finance clerk and I do some American Sign Language interpreting for some of the deaf members in our area. I enjoy sign language. It is always good to know another language and have a skill that you can use to assist others, plus you get to make some really great friends at the same time. I also enjoy talking to others about their beliefs. Many people are searching for answers. It is very nice to hear their perspectives, hear of their faith in God, and have the ability to share my perspectives.
